Roast Chicken And Lemang & Beef Rendang

Today is Sunday, 68th day MCO. We had just finished the online worship service because we have not gone back to worship in church. Today is also the first day of "Hari Raya Aidilfitri" celebration observed by the Muslims. Wishing all Muslim readers, "Selamat Hari Raya".

What happened yesterday, Saturday.
Morning sky at 7:00 am (on my right).
Starting out on our early morning walk.
Kledang Hill at 7:00 am (on my left)

Breakfast
Pan fried sausages, beef patty and green tea for hubby.
Homemade mini pizza with thin frozen chapati as base.
I wanted to clear some frozen chapati from my fridge, so I decided to use the frozen chapati as pizza base. I made this pizza with a non-stick pan.
My breakfast: Homemade mini pizza, glutinous rice ball with red bean filling and green tea.  The pizza tastes good with very crispy base but the base was too thin to support the toppings.

Lunch & Dinner
About 1:30 pm, we drove out in search of "lemang" which is glutinous rice cooked in bamboo. We get to eat this once a year and we usually buy "lemang" from this roadside stall every year.
Lemang at RM 15.00
(Glutinous rice with coconut milk cooked in bamboo)
On the way back, we stopped at Baker's Cottage (in front of Billion Mart, Jelapang).
Roast chicken at RM9.90 each.
We came to know about this roast chicken promotion from a friend. The promotion will be available until 31st May. I bought 1 barbecue roast chicken and 1 black pepper roast chicken. We ate half of the barbecue roast chicken and kept the other half in the fridge. The chicken was still warm, tastes good with crispy skin. We kept the black pepper roast chicken in the freezer for another day.

Dinner
Cut the bamboo and pried it open lengthwise to expose the cooked rice lined with banana leaf inside.
The bamboo with the glutinous rice removed.
We bought 2 tubs of beef rendang at RM 15.00 each.
The lemang or cooked glutinous rice cut into pieces.
To eat, first remove the banana leaf wrapping.
To start with, we each had 3 pieces of lemang with some beef rendang. We went for a 2nd helping. We kept the rest in the fridge for next day.

It is God himself who has made us what we are
and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago
he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others.

  8. Ooh yummy Raya delicacies!

I don't dare buy a whole bamboo of lemang. Long ago my dad bought a tube where the rice was not yet cooked inside. He went back to change for another tube, which also turned out uncooked inside.

    1. We had an incident with uncooked lemang. I cut the rice into pieces and steamed to cook. It all turned out very nicely.

  13. I love sticky rice. It is very popular at Thai restaurants, and we always order it with Penang curry.
