Teochew Porridge At Restoran Sin Hup Heng Chaozhou, Ipoh

Last Monday, our friends wanted to eat Teochew porridge. We agreed to meet at Restoran Sin Hup Heng Chaozhou at Jalan Theatre, Ipoh. We have to be there before the lunch crowd to get a table that can accommodate 4 people according to the requirement of MCO for physical distancing. We ordered the following dishes for 4 people.

Fried salted pork belly. Crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside.
Braised tofu in soy sauce.
Lala or clams cooked with salted soy beans.
Watercress with belacan or prawn paste.
Onion omelette
Crispy deep fried fish (precooked or "suk yu" in Cantonese).
Sweet potato porridge
~~~~~
After lunch, we drove over to Sangkaya because our friends wanted some ice-cream and coffee.
We ordered ice-cream to share and coffee for the men.
Chilling with good company on a nice quiet afternoon.
Be beautiful inside, in your hearts, with the lasting charm
of a gentle and quiet spirit that is so precious to God.
  1. All looks lovely.
    Can't come at fish with their heads there or on for that matter.
    Bought a fish the other day and my husband removed it's head and put it in the bin...but that's me.
    1. I know, but its normal for us to have the head on the fish. We all have our own way of dealing with the fish head.
  19. Looks like SOP still followed strictly in Ipoh. KL seems to be less strict.
    I hardly buy watercress for fear they might be bitter.
