When I was younger, I have to get rice at least for lunch or dinner. If not, I will feel kind of weak or tired easily. Maybe this is only me, I don't know how many of you have felt the same. Now that I have progressed in age, I no longer need to eat rice as often as I used to. In fact, I can go without eating rice for days. These days, I mostly eat other form of carbohydrates such as noodles. I can eat noodles for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Here are some of my favourite noodles.
Prawn noodle or Hokkien mee.
We have prawn noodles in Ipoh but the best prawn noodle I have tasted is in Penang.
Wanton Noodle with bbq pork & pork dumplings.
Hor Hee Noodle (glass or mung bean noodle)
I understand that this Hor Hee noodle is only available in Ipoh.
Beef noodle or ngau hor noodle.
Beef tripe noodle soup.

From my garden - bird watching.
Some birds love to visit my garden.
I have some hanging pots which I can see from my living room.
This common house sparrow is resting on my spider plants.
It can't see me from outside.
The birds will take turns resting on this plant, treating the plants as a nest.
Sometimes, there will be 2 birds.
One is hidden behind the leaves.
Can you see the head of the 2nd bird behind the front bird?
A 3rd bird just joined in but hardly visible from here.
Now only left one bird.
Every now and then I have to add soil to the pot because the birds will disturb the soil and I will find soil particles on the ground below the pots.

DeleteHave the birds ever built a nest there? When I was a kid, the Carolina wrens built a nest in a pot of my mom's flowers one time. After that she put up a little bird nest box on the side of the house and they built there.

ReplyDeleteNot necessary to use mung bean noodles for hor hee. Actually the "hor" is for hor fun or koay teow. I like mung bean because it is not filling.
