Kopisan Lai Fun For Breakfast

On the 2nd morning of lockdown (MCO 2.0), hubby was thinking of his hometown noodle i.e. Kopisan Lai Fun which we haven't taken for a long time. We drove out to the one nearest to us i.e. at Jalan Centrepoint 2, Taman Hoover, Ipoh. We were early and there was only 1 customer ahead of us.

We bought 1 portion of noodle (lai fun) and picked 12 pieces of mixed items (liew). We brought along our stainless steel containers for the takeaway.
A special container for the condiment - curry oil.
We also bought 4 pieces of deep fried crispy fish crackers as our snack.
~~~~~
The following photos were taken before the lockdown during one of our morning walks.
Early morning at 7:20am - birds flying out from the shelter of the nearby trees and settling on the power lines.
They were very noisy as if shouting "good morning" to one another.
Some even settled on top of the buildings.
Sometimes they will take off together, fly in one big circle and then returned to the power line.
More and more birds started to join them on the power lines.
These birds need not have to worry about social distancing or getting fined RM1k for not observing MCO SOP.
The chives in my garden are growing back again after the harvest and is not now flowering again. I will be collecting the seeds to grow more chives.
God is the one who gives seed to those who plant,
and he gives bread for food.
And God will give you spiritual seed and make that seed grow.
He will produce a great harvest from your goodness.
  2. Cannot see the Lai fun in your photos. Is the Lai fun same as those in Assam laksa?
    1. The lai fun was buried under the "liew". It is not the same as the Assam Laksa lai fun which is translucent. This noodle is made from rice.
    2. Oh, I would love these rice Lai fun then cos I like the soft rice.
  3. Those birds could be very noisy sometime. But it is nice to hear and see them hanging on the wire.
    Good to bring own container or tiffin when tapau. I should do it too.
    1. Yes, I don't mind the noise. It is a joy to hear and see them welcoming the new day with their noise and flying around. I prefer to use own container or tiffin just to avoid using plastics and also safer for holding hot soup.
  14. Those photos about those birds on the wire reminded me about that scary movie called " The Birds " They were vicious and killed people. Every time I see birds on the wire I think about that movie.
    Have a great day Nancy and keep safe.
  28. It is so encouraging that you took your own containers for the takeout food. If only more people would adopt this simple measure it would make a real dent in the amount of garbage created by disposable food containers. Bravo!
  31. Hi Nancy,
    I never knew chives actually flower. pls give some tips on how to make them flower coz i've nvr seen mine flower
    1. Actually, I thought all types of chives will flower because we eat chive flowers too. But surprisingly no, only some chives will flower. I have 2 types of chives. One type was given to me by a friend which will not flower. The seeds I bought from a plant nursery will flower. So I think it has nothing to do with tips, it depends on the type of chives.
