Strawberry Jelly, Prawn & Pineapple Curry (Masak Lemak)

We couldn't go for morning walk for 3 mornings in a row because it was drizzling. I tried to go back to sleep but couldn't because I was already wide awake.

About 7:46, we drove out to the coffee shop for breakfast.
On this particular morning, we went to try the nasi lemak at a new stall.
We shared a plate of nasi lemak with 2 items added i.e. tomato prawns and chicken curry (RM8). It was a great disappointment because the sambal and chicken curry was not spicy at all. It doesn't taste like nasi lemak, actually more like chap farn except for the fried groundnuts, anchovies and egg. Sorry, once is enough for us.
My neighbour gave me a box of strawberries which she brought back from her one day trip to Cameron Highlands. Strawberries cannot keep long, even in the fridge. One fast way to use up all the strawberries is to make jelly with it. I cut the strawberries into small pieces and I made strawberry jelly with a packet of konnyaku powder and sugar.
My neighbour and a friend received a tub of strawberry jelly each. The natural colouring from the strawberries gave the jelly a beautiful colour.
For lunch, I cooked dried noodle, fried eggs and ate the noodle with vegetable acar.
My friend requested for prawn and pineapple curry (lemak style with coconut milk). She contributed the prawns.
For dinner, the above was our dinner.
The rainy season gives us good appetite. By 10pm, we were feeling hungry and the above was our supper. Hot milo and cream crackers with blueberry jam. A friend made this blueberry jam and I was blessed with a tub.
Buds from the Sea Hibiscus.
The grasshoppers have been feeding on the leaves again.
And they have been feeding on the flower petals as well.

Look at the ravens - they don't plant or harvest
or have barns to store away their food,
and yet they get along all right - for God feeds them.
And you are far more valuable to him than any birds!

  2. The prawn pineapple curry sounds and looks appetizing. I was a huge fan of cream crackers when I was much younger and could finish at least half bag at one set.

  8. Those are some dramatic skies!! Great idea on the strawberries. Once place that we lived in when was a kid had a strawberry patch. Nothing better than plucking strawberries and eating them right then and there. Nowdays I first clean them but kids have no sense right.
    Have a great weekend!!

  19. You are blessed to have a neighbor give you the strawberries. After making straweberry jelly you paid it forward by giving some to a neighbor and a friend. You are such a kind person. I anxiously await your post on SkyWatch Friday to view your photographs of what you are eating. Sorry the grasshoppers are hungry too. Happy New Year!
