Assorted Kuih And Savoury Dumplings For The Day

I had interrupted sleep the whole night and only managed to sleep soundly around 4 am.  That was the cause of waking up late for my morning walk.

Late start to our morning walk - 7:30am
We walked to the nearby shops and bought some Nyonya kuih from the roadside stall for breakfast.
We also bought this big "bak chang" or glutinous rice dumpling (RM6.50) to try.
We like these "pulut udang" or glutinous rice with dried shrimp sambal filling.
Yum bean dumplings. Nice but the skin was a bit too thick.
We bought 2 ang ku kueh to try.
Red colour with lotus seed filling, green colour with coconut grating filling. We won't be buying these again because we don't like the thick and not so soft skin.
Before eating, squeeze the chili sauce over the dumplings.
~~~~~
We kept the glutinous rice dumpling for lunch.
Big bak chang with lots of ingredients inside.
 There was 1 whole salted egg yolk, 1 whole Chinese chestnut, a big of pork, 1 big mushroom, mung bean and etc.
A Chinese art mural on the outer wall fence of a nearby Chinese school.
Our neighbour ordered these savoury yam bean dumplings from Kampar and she gave us 1 packet. We ate one-third of the dumplings for afternoon tea and the remaining two-thirds for dinner.
And now there remain: faith (abiding trust in God and His promises),
hope (confident expectation of eternal salvation,
love (unselfish love for others growing out of God's love for me),
these three (the choicest graces); but the greatest of these is love.
(1 Corinthians 13:13, Amplified Bible-AMP)
  2. Last week I sleep very well because it keeps raining, so the weather is very cooling to sleep in.
    This week I had some interrupted sleep, luckily my work starts only in the afternoon so it is still ok.
  3. I so love these nyonya kuihs,,,but these days, I have to go slow with anything glutinous rice as I need to watch my sugar level. Nothing really serious though, once in a long while is fine but not like how I used to feast on it before, like there's no tomorrow. LOL!!!
    1. We too have to watch our sugar level but when it comes with glutinous, we couldn't resist. Cannot eat too often.
  4. What a coincidence again. You bought and ate yam bean dumplings and then your neighbour also gave you yam bean dumplings. Is this the same neighbour who gave you all nasi lemak when you both ate nasi lemak in the same day?
