This was last Saturday. I am a week late in my posting.
Overcast sky at 7am.
Sun blocked by clouds - 7:20am.
A day with overcast sky.
~~~~~
Hubby missing his favourite steamed rice noodle (chee cheong fun) from Canning Garden.
We went to buy take-away 2 portions of chee cheong fun and 4 pieces of fried crunchy beancurd sheet.
Hubby's chee cheong fun with sesame seeds, fried crispy shallot + oil, and soy sauce. Later, all the pickled green chili will go to my plate.
I will usually order the same as hubby's chee cheong fun but this time I wanted to try adding some shrimp paste (hae ko in Hokkien). Penang version has a darker shrimp paste, this is a paler version.
We love to munch on these crunchy beancurd sheet.
Both chee cheong fun with or without shrimp paste taste great.
~~~~~
Simple lunch
Red dragon fruit, pear and few pieces of leftover stuffed items.
I remember the first time I ate a whole big red dragon fruit. I noticed my urine was reddish in colour and I thought there was blood in my urine. I was really worried and was thinking of going to the clinic. So relieved when I realized it was due to the dragon fruit and save me the trip to the clinic. The next day, the colour was back to normal.
Finally, we managed to clear the leftover stuffed items.
Pear for hubby because hubby doesn't like dragon fruit.
Fresh, sweet and juicy red dragon fruit.
A pretty moth on my Coleus.
This is my first time seeing this moth in my garden.
Linking to Saturday's Critters.
Don't hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths
and corroded by rust or - worse! - stolen by burglars.
Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it's safe from moth
and rust and burglars. It's obvious, isn't it?
The place where your treasure is,
is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.
(Matthew 6:19-21, The Message-MSG)
I LOVE LOVE chee cheong fun. That's a great lunch, Nancy.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie.
DeleteBellissimo il tuo blog, conoscere luoghi e cibi lontani è una grande ricchezza! Lo chee cheong fun e gli altri frutti li assaggerei con piacere! Buona giornata!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lea.
DeleteI prefer chee cheong fun with char siew...or shrimps. Dunno if I've tried it with har ko or not but I think I did have it once with sambal. Don't remember getting excited about it. Never tried fried crunchy beancurd sheet - nobody selling that here.
ReplyDeleteI first tasted chee cheong fun with har ko in Penang. It is nice to have it once in a while but I still prefer the plan version.
DeleteWhat beautiful pictures of this cloudy sky.
ReplyDeleteThe food looks delicious.
Greetings Irma
Thank you, Irma.
DeleteYour skies look like ours today, grey and heavy, but we don't have any mountains here. Your food looks good. The crunchy beancurd sounds lovely. I would like to try dragon fruits one day, I haven't seen them here yet. Have a wonderful weekend, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThank you, Valerie. Have a wonderful week.
DeleteWoah, what a sky!
ReplyDeleteYou have the "funniest" breakfast!
I sure would be lost, food-wise, in your place!
Those beancurd sheets look yum. Can you imagine my Bro at age.. 8 put something similar into the toaster? Took fire. I was to supervise him... Look away one sec...
Your lunch looks yum! We had dragon fruit once, but reckon here in Germany... not as yum (in Perth, Western Australia, we get real mangoes etc, you cannot compare it to the crap we get here).
Uh. We have nasty, tiny moths here, I don´t know why!
Hope they don´t eat our socks made by Ingo´s late Granma!!!
Thank you, Iris.
DeleteI have never come across dragon fruit before, it is such a vibrant colour and looks tasty.
ReplyDeleteThere are red and white dragon fruits. Red is juicer than white.
Delete...the moth has an interesting shape, I've never seem one like that. I hope that you're enjoying a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tom. Have a wonderful week.
DeleteHello Nancy,
ReplyDeleteI hope your skies clear up soon. The food all looks delicious. The Moth is pretty, it has a neat shape. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Thank you, Eileen for hosting. Have a wonderful weekend.
DeleteLove the hill peeping through the mist cover. Great food as always.

DeleteHola, amiga Nancy.
Thank you, Manuel. I too prefer to check the fruits before I buy them and it is not possible if to buy online. Have a great new week.
DeleteAh, now I am tempted to eat ccf after reading your post. Yum yummy! I love eating ytf so can eat them daily. I think you both took 3 meals on 3 days to finish the ytf. Am I correct? The moth looks special. Seldom see moths around.
ReplyDeleteYou are very observant and have good memory. I shouldn't have added the fried sui kao. Instead of finishing the first batch of ytf in 2 meals, with the sui kao, we took 3 meals to finish.
DeleteThat's a really lovely looking moth.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Adam.
DeleteThe sky is beautiful in your part of the world - so wide and full of drama. The food, as always, looks amazing.

Thank you, Amalia.
DeleteHello Nancy,:=) What a great selection of food, and moody sky shots. Beetroot does the same as Red Dragon Fruit, gives you a nasty shock until you realise, the reason why.
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a beautiful week.
DeleteI ate dragon fruit once, but it was a white one. Great capture on the moth, and I loved your last week's overcast weather and mist mountains. Have a great Sunday
ReplyDeleteWe have both the white and red dragon fruits, but red is more common here.
DeleteMmmm ... looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Elena.
DeleteI always thought Dragon Fruit was white inside, with tiny black seeds...
ReplyDeleteWe have red and white dragon fruits but red is more common here.
DeleteThe mist looks so pretty in those first photos. And I think I've seen one of those moths here too!
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a wonderful week.
DeleteVery moody skies.
ReplyDeleteHaving moody skies these few days.
DeleteThe tops of the hills peaking over the mist look very imposing. That's a fascinating moth!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mimi.
DeleteHaven't seen a moth for while now.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Me too. Take care and stay safe.
DeleteHermosa pollita, me gustaría comer tus fideos. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteThank you, JP.
DeleteI am so tempted by the CCF that you had especially when it is loaded with pickled green chillies! That moth looks like an alien spaceship :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, PH.
DeleteWow! Those meals look delicious! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll visit my blog soon. Have a nice day!
Thank you, Marianela. Have a nice day too.
DeleteLooks good
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jo-Anne.
DeleteIt can be seen that you are truly a person who loves life. I wish you a happy day.
ReplyDeletehd lace closure wig
Thank you, Ashley.
DeleteThank you, Francisco.
ReplyDeleteOh whereabouts is the Penang CCF from? I don't know of any place to get this in Ipoh - my mother has always been complaining she doesn't like the mushroom sauce version common there.
ReplyDeleteYeah funny about that dragonfruit. When my girl was just a toddler, I had a shock too upon noticing the redness in the toilet.
Stacy, you can get this ccf with prawn paste from the Canning Garden stall.
DeleteLa fruta del dragón se ve buenísima. Besos.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa.
