Every morning, as we start out on our morning walk, one of us will ask the other what we would like to eat for breakfast. For this particular morning, hubby wanted to eat steamed big bun or "tai pau".
So, after our morning walk, we walked over to the dim sum restaurant near our house to buy "tai pau" and a few more items.
Steamed big bun or "tai pau" cut into halves for sharing.
I will take the half with the hard boiled egg.
I also bought fried prawn dumplings and a baked bbq bun.
I like varieties, so I bought a "nam yee pau" or steamed bun with fermented red bean curd pork belly filling.
Home grown okras or ladies fingers from my garden for dinner.
First time trying to cook chicken varuval (my own version) with whatever spices I have available. It taste good with white rice or Indian bread (capati).
Dinner for 2 people on a cool evening.
Sunset shot at 7:15pm
7:17pm
7:18pm
A rainbow on the reverse side at 7:18pm.
One more shot before the rainbow faded away.
I spotted these 2 garden snails on the roadside on one of our morning walk.
Linking to Saturday's Critters.
Have two goals:
wisdom - that is, knowing and doing right - and common sense.
Don't let them slip away, for they fill you with living energy
and bring you honor and respect.
They keep you safe from defeat and disaster
and from stumbling off the trail.
With them on guard you can sleep without fear;
you need not be afraid of disaster or the plots of wicked men,
for the Lord is with you; he protects you.

Beautiful sky shots and lots of fabulous food. I always just have 2 cups of coffee for breakfast. Have a great day! Valerie
ReplyDeleteThank you, Valerie. Have a great week.
DeleteNo tai pao here - used to buy when I was in KL in the 80's, loved it so so so much! The baked bbq bun looks so good too! The nam yee pao looks like char siew pao. We do not have that here either.
ReplyDeleteThere are other varieties with sweet fillings which I haven't tried.
DeleteYour food looks sooo good.
ReplyDeleteIngo ordered Greek food yesterday. It was so bad I had to bring it to the bin.
We love Greek food. (Before Ingo got sick) and he read by post about the new restaurant - no website yet, so he choose this sadly very bad one.
I enjoyed yours and your sunsets :-)
Thank you, Iris. Hope Ingo gets well soon.
DeleteWow rainbow 🌈 nice! I have not eaten nam yee Pau with pork belly before.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Libby. I like nam yee pau but not the fat attached to the pork.
DeleteThe plump beansprouts and okra look so good! I love that giant tai pau too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie.

DeleteThat all looks so delicious.
ReplyDeleteAnd the rainbow...beautiful!
Thanks for the verse at the end. It means the world.
Thank you, Sandi. Take care and stay safe.
DeleteRich breakfast. I have a poor appetite in the morning and I wouldn't eat even half of this.
ReplyDeleteI used to have poor appetite in the morning too but I guess age has changed it.
DeleteThe buns for breakfast look delicious. Not something that I have ever had but would love to give them a try.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mamas.
DeleteFew paos you bought. I like paos especially pao with char siew filling, and red bean paos.
ReplyDeleteI like paos with savoury filling. Long time have eaten red bean paos. I think we call it called tau sar pao.
DeleteSo nice to have a tasty dim sum shop within walking distance of your house. I have not encountered nam yee bao around my place. Do you prefer the baked bbq bao or the nam yee bao? Which taste suit you more?
ReplyDeleteI like different bao varieties. They are all nice in their own way, so no special preferences.
DeleteA beautiful rainbow! We saw one last night too! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a wonderful week.
DeleteAll I can say is Yum, Yum, Yum Nancy.
ReplyDeleteCruisin Paul
Thank you, Paul.
DeleteHello Nancy, I have been ill with some kind of stomach bug, or just over indulgence. I can't even look at food, but your almost purple sky shots are lovely, and you made such good shot of the snails.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your stomach bug. Hope you are feeling better now.
DeleteThe sky is gorgeous! How do they get the steamed buns so white and pretty?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny. I think it has something to do with the whitening flour.
DeleteGreat review and beautiful photos! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Elena.
DeleteWhat splendid sky views.
ReplyDeleteThank you, William.
DeleteWe didn't grow okra this year.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
The okra will be making way for other plants soon.
DeleteMe gusto tu pollo te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteThank you, JP.
DeleteNice sky with rainbow in it. We had alot of clouds Friday and thought it might rain as it was cool and breezy for awhile til late afternoon then more blue sky. Megan saw that the moon looked orange last night. Possibly smoke in area from fires. Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Grandma Beckyl. Hope the fires have been contained. Have a good week.
DeleteWhen i read your blog, i have to go get a snack. Love the skies and the rainbow!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mimi.
DeleteAll you posts have motivated me not to be lazy and start taking walks since the gyms are still closed for so long here. I feel so much weaker and frail now. LOL
ReplyDeleteI will also start growing more vegetables again like you for fun and convenience.
This morning no walking because it was raining. Nice to sleep in. I think the gym will open very soon as most of the businesses are opening already.
DeleteThe bun looks interesting. Like you sky and rainbow.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Margaret.
DeleteSo appetizing to look at...cute snail couple
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ashok.
DeleteI love chicken varuval and mutton varuval too! I have seen many snails in my garden lately.
ReplyDeleteI think the rain brought back the snails.
DeleteDear friend! As usual, your sunset photos are beautiful. Bye the way, what an amazing okras, they are long and Slim, looks great. Happy Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThe okras are the long specie.
DeleteHot and spicy suits well for the cool weather.
ReplyDeleteYou got an awesome sunset with a rainbow!
Thank you, Jeevan.
DeleteGood try on your first attempt in cooking chicken varuval, it looks successful.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Libby. Quite a good attempt.
DeleteOh so nice
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jo-Anne.
DeleteThe last time I had dim sum for breakfast was in Hong Kong three years ago and it was fantastic! My favourite all time breakfast.
ReplyDeleteHope when the borders open, you will be able to visit Hong Kong and other Asian countries again.
DeleteThose paos have a lot of filling.
ReplyDeleteYour varuval looks good. I had a regular recipe which I stopped making after the kids came along.
Thank you, Stacy. I think I won't be making it again because the recipe uses spices which I don't normally use.
DeleteLa comida se ve deliciosa. Besos.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa.
