Peach Gum Longan Sweet Drink, Egg Prata & Sambal Chicken

This was eve of the Mid-Autumn or Mooncake Festival. The morning was cloudy.

Morning sky at 7am.
Sunrise behind dark cloud at 7:07am.
7:10am.
On the way back from morning walk, walked to the Mamak shop to buy egg prata (roti telur).
Quite a lot for 1 piece of prata with egg and onion (roti telur).
I cooked oat for myself, added almond slices, walnut chunks and cranberries.
A friend came over to give us 2 mooncakes.
Red bean paste filling (left) and pandan flavour paste filling (right).
We took a long time to finish these 2 mooncakes.
I boiled sweet drink with peach gum with cane sugar and I added in dried persimmon slices and a can of longan. Gave some to neighbour.

I was not in the mood to cook so we went out to the Indian stall to buy dinner.
We bought fried noodle, egg prata (roti telu) and 2 sambal drumsticks (ayam masak merah).
We like this fried beehoon, usually sold out very early.
This egg prata or roti telur has no onion and is smaller than the one we bought in the morning from the Mamak shop.
I like this sambal chicken drumstick (ayam masak merah).
It was a rainy evening and I couldn't resist buying 2 pieces of fried chicken from the next stall in the same restaurant.
Evening sky at 6:55pm.

Trishaw on display at the Antong Coffee mill in Taiping when we visited in Jun, 2016.

The heavens are telling the glory of God;
they are a marvelous display of his craftmanship.
Day and night they keep on telling about God.

  8. I prefer plain roti canai to roti telur. The egg taste makes it taste like omelette but I may order that sometimes for a change. The ayam masak merah looks gorgeous...but the fried bihun looks a bit pale today.

    1. I usually order plain roti canai but sometimes, I like roti telur or roti sardine for a change. This fried bihun is pale because different from the spicy sambal bihun that we used to buy for breakfast.

    2. Hi Nancy, in sg plain roti canai, we will tell the person kosong, meaning no egg and plain lol. Roti telur we just say we want egg prata in English lol.

    3. Here, if we want plain roti canai, then we just ask for "roti canai". If with egg, we just ask for "roti telur". Some will add onion to the roti telur, some will not.

  16. Your oats look so tasty! The roti telur if we want onions, we need to order roti telur bawang which is a teeny weeny bit more expensive. You mean your roti telur from a certain shop has onions in it too?

  24. If I am already at a food place, I'm always tempted to buy a lot. Then cart everything home and store like a squirrel does haha. Conditioning from having to make an effort to go out to shops plus I don't like driving/parking. But for you food is nearby so I guess no such tendencies.

    1. Sometimes, I will buy extra to stock. But most times, I will buy whatever I need because food is easily available here, no problem with parking and traffic is not heavy.
