This was last Saturday morning.
Sunrise at 7:05am.
Morning sky at 7:20am.
After breakfast, hubby went out to meet up with his friends.
And I went out to pick up a butter lemon cake (RM18) which I have ordered.
Instead of my usual chempedak cake (RM12), I wanted to try this butter lemon cake which my friend said is nice.
It smells nice but it is more expensive than the chempedak cake. To me, both butter lemon cake and the chempedak cake are equally nice but husband doesn't like the slight sourish lemon taste. He prefers the chempedak cake.

Another lazy day for the cook. This time we had "nga choy kai" or beansprout and chicken for dinner. We haven't been to this place for more than 2 years, even before the pandemic started.
A bowl of flat rice noodle aka koay teow (RM2.30) in plain soup.
Poached chicken (RM17).
Blanched beansprout or nga choy (RM4).
Plus a glass of lime syrup (RM2.30).
Total cost of our shared dinner RM25.60.
Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence him.
With them alone he shares the secrets of his promises.
(Psalm 25:14, The Living Bible-TLB)
Yes, so many places that I have not been to for around two years, ever since the outbreak of the pandemic. Glad that many have survived, sad that there are some that have closed down. I probably would like the butter lemon cake, not a fan of cempedak.
ReplyDeleteIf you like the sourish and tangy taste of lemon, then you would like the butter lemon cake.
DeleteWow this butter lemon cake is wonderful
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nassah.
DeleteOh, the cake loves you! There is a heart!
ReplyDeleteI have a new cookbook with lemons as main character - will experiment and share soon! I love lemons.
Poached chicken? Never heard of that.
Love to learn about all your food - have a yummy day again :-)
Thank you, Iris. I love lemon too.
DeleteThe price for your blanched Beansprout & Poached Chicken For Dinner is so very good for two pax. I love sourish lemon taste so I would prefer that lemon cake to butter only cake. Since your husband doesn't like sourish taste, does that mean you ate the whole lemon cake all by yourself?
ReplyDeleteHubby ate 2 pieces and left the rest to me. Lol!
DeleteThe dinner looks so good! I love that tender chicken and crunch healthy blanched beansprout so much.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie.
Delete...the butter lemon cake looks delicious.

DeleteHello Nancy,:=) The food you share is always healthy food, good for you in other words. Lots of vegetables in both dishes, and no fat in poached chicken. The cake looks good,I like the lemon taste, and the occasional treat does you no harm, It does look good.
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a great weekend.
DeleteNever had poached chicken, doesn't sound right to me

ReplyDeleteIt is. Thank you, William.
DeleteI love poached chicken and it is my favorite at chicken rice shop. I like lemon butter cake but some family members prefer just butter cake, no other flavor LOL!
ReplyDeleteSame for me too.
DeleteEl pastel luce muy rico, Te mando un beso

DeleteThank you, Francisco.
ReplyDeleteLoaf cakes at that price are a steal!
ReplyDeleteIt is not a very big piece.
DeleteLemon does have a bitter undertone that some people do not like, although i do. Hot noodles sound very good right now, it's cold here.
ReplyDeleteI like the taste of lemon. It didn't rain for 2 days now.
DeleteEl bizcocho de mantequilla y limón se ve muy bien. Besos.
