As we started our morning walk, I asked hubby where he wanted to go for breakfast.
6:53am
After a moment of silence, he answered "Sin Choi Yuen", one of our regular coffee shop in our area.
7:00am
Then we continued with our morning walk until we finished our rounds and walked to the coffee shop.
I ordered 4 pieces of angku kuih and chai kuih from a stall manned by an elderly couple. The kuih are quite small in size.
Vegetable dumpling (chai kuih) with yam bean and dried shrimp filling.
Nyonya kuih (angku) with white lotus mung bean filling. This time the filling were a bit dry and not as nice as the last we bought. I suppose there is less oil added but should be healthier. Anyway, I still enjoyed the kuih because the skin is soft and filling not very sweet.
After breakfast, we walked home.
Saw this motorcycle parked in front of a motorcycle repair shop on our morning walk.
Snapshot of the same motorcycle taken from a different angle.
Yellow hibiscus, multi petals.
This was grown from a cutting given by a friend.
This hibiscus has been with us for about 8 years, since 2014.
And I have blessed many with cuttings from this plant.
Blessed is the man who reveres God,
but the man who doesn't care is headed for serious trouble.
(Proverbs 28:14, The Living Bible-TLB)
I love your yellow hibiscus!
ReplyDeleteThank you, PH.
Deletei like both angku and chai kueh....good for tea time & breakfast!
ReplyDeleteI love both too but the quality of the angku is not consistent. Sometimes very, very good, sometimes not so good.
DeleteI love angku kuih and chai kuih. Chai kuih is ok for me, not sweet, savoury but angku, I would have to be careful. All right if they cut down on the sweetness of the mung bean filling. I love it so much!
ReplyDeleteThe mung bean filling was not sweet, just nice for me.
Deletebeautiful hibiscus...i usualy find the pink and the red ones....
ReplyDeletethis angku and vegie dumpling make me mouthwatering....yummy!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Tom.
DeleteI love angku kuih, esp. the white lotus filling!
ReplyDeleteSorry Angie. I made a mistake, it should be mung bean filling.
DeleteThat hibiscus is just from a cutting? That's amazing. Maybe there is hope for me after all to grow plants.
ReplyDeleteI just poke the cuttings into soil, place them under semi shade and wait for them to sprout. Some will sprout, some will not.
DeleteBeautiful sky, beautiful flowers and fabulous food.

Yes, both are delicious. The chai kuih is savoury and the angku is sweet.
DeleteThank you Nancy for the lovely yellow hibiscus photos. Your friends and acquaintances must be very happy to get the cuttings from you to have this lovely yellow flower in their gardens. I love to eat Nyonya Kuih, especially your angku which has non oily fillings and less sweet. I see there is napa cabbages in the Pork Noodle, very nice, not many pork noodles have napa cabbages in them.
ReplyDeleteAbout your yellow hisbiscus flowers, is it 100% success rate to plant it from the cuttings? Must cut from what kind of branch? Young or matured or those with shoots?
The cuttings should be cut from just below the green stem, not too old or old woody stem. Have to try with a few short cuttings to ensure at least one or two will sprouts.
DeleteHope your walk was a good one.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Thank you, Dora. We enjoy our walks.
