During the long rainy season, some of the edible plants that did well are the ladies' finger and the brinjals. Brinjals are also known as eggplants or aubergine.
Long green ladies' fingers.
Green brinjals.
Purple brinjal.
Purple brinjal.
Purple brinjals take slightly longer time to cook than the green brinjals.
On this particular morning, I harvested 2 long green ladies' fingers, 1 purple brinjal and 3 green brinjals.
I usually steamed the brinjals and the ladies fingers. Sometimes, I will add them to the curry dish. This time, I used the brinjals and ladies' fingers together with cabbage to cook with sambal belacan + dried shrimps.

I saw the following photos when I was holidaying in Penang. I know the 2 portraits belong to 2 members of the Beatles group but I don't know their name. Can you help me with their names?

If you must choose, take a good name rather than great riches;
for to be held in loving esteem is better than silver and gold.
(Proverbs 22:1, The Living Bible-TLB)
The purple one is very pretty. Both of these are John Lennon
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny.
DeleteNever seen or buy green brinjal. Oh, they cook faster than the purple brinjal?? I didn't know that.
ReplyDeleteIt has been raining since last night and it is still raining outside. What a first day of school. Wet and cold.
Green brinjal is not common and the texture is smooth and softer. We haven't have rain for about a week but it did rain yesterday evening.
DeleteSo nice to harvest and cook vegetable from one's own garden. Both the photos are of John Lennon I think.
ReplyDeleteThank you, PH. Since it is raining less these days, I can start to sow some seeds.
Deletei'm so envious of your garden....the land so fertile and always have new harvest!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nux. Have to keep rotating what to plant next or else get bored with the same veggie.
DeleteWow, that purple brinjal is beautiful! "Imagine" is my new journal´s title!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Iris. Looking forward to your new journal.
DeleteThat's John Lennon. 2nd one looks like him too...or George Harrison. We had brinjal and ladies fingers fried with sambal udang kering today, what a coincidence!

DeleteYour brinjals and lady fingers look beautiful, and i'm sure they taste as good as they look.
ReplyDeleteJohn Lennon was the member of the Beatles who wore the round glasses, so both of these are probably pictures of him, one from a younger age and one after the band broke up.
Thank you, Mimi. Have a wonderful day.
