Constructing A New Non-Slip Concrete Pavement

Since the fixing of our dining room roof, we had one more project to be carried out. We had a pavement in front of our gate that was lined with 2 rows of floor tiles and the rest was cemented. After years of wear and tear, the tiles tend to be slippery whether it rained or not.

Hubby and elder son have slipped and fell because of the slippery pavement and others had near accident but thank God, didn't. Most of our friends are elderlies, so one can imagine the seriousness if one would to fall and hurt himself or herself.

Hubby arranged the date for the construction to be carried to coincide with the days that I will be in hospital for the chemo treatment because it was going to be very dusty and noisy. I was spared the noise and dust and the final concreting work was done while I was home from hospital. Below are some of the photos taken of the construction work by hubby.

Sunrise shot at 7:30am.
I can't remember where this photo was taken.
Hacking and breaking up the old concrete and tiles.

Levelling of the ground level.
Laying of reinforcement for the pavement to prevent cracks.
Ready for concreting.
We ordered pre-mixed concrete for the pavement.
At last, the finished new non-slip concrete pavement project.

  1. Yes, my house too is in dire need for repairs and renovations but I just close one eye. Cannot stand having such works going on in or around the house - the dust will get in no matter how you close the doors and windows and block all the gaps. Nice gate you have there!

    1. Thank you, STP. Yes, any renovation will definitely cause a lot of dust and noise. Since we have already started on renovation, this is just one more to endure before we can really clean up our house. Need the help of part time maid since I am out of action for now. Lol!

  2. Oh yes, slippery pavement can be a health hazard. It is good that you managed to have yours re-done for safety. My house is also in need of repairs but I really dread having contractors and their workers come to the house and creating all the mess during renovation/repairs.

    1. Thank you, PH. Actually, I never like renovation but was forced by what happened to our blown off roof. That started the renovation rolling. I am glad that it is all done now.

  5. I'm glad pavement treatment was finally done. Is the horse 🐎 painted 🎨 in your area? It looks very nice. I hope you continue to heal well 🙏 💗 . I was outdoors yesterday for a bit of walk by our lawn. Now I have been coughing and I know it's more likely the high pollen has got me again 😔. I enjoyed being outdoors for a bit with my purple walking cane.

    1. Thank you, Becky. No, the horse is not painted in my area. I have been for walks since I became sick. Too weak to walk.

  7. So nice that you had the work done while you were away in hospital, noise and dust are awful! The pavement now looks nicer and safer. That horse mural is lovely and I can see someone climbed the wall and "sat " on the horse. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Nancy.

  14. What they have put on the new pavement so that it is not slippery In the image it is not noticeable, it seems that it is all smooth. Around here it is also done but they make drawings so that it does not slip. Kisses Nancy.

    1. It looks smooth but it is actually not smooth. They used steel broom to draw line across the pavement so it is rough.

  23. Hello Nancy, good to hear from you. Glad that the entrance pavement is now safer for everyone, not slippery anymore. Bathroom floor tiles also need to be careful when stepping on them as they are slippery too. Please take good care 🙏
