Hong Kong, Day 1 - Sai Kung Hoi Pong Square
Before I post about our dinner, I will share some photos that I have taken in Sai Kung Hoi Pong Square. It was still early and we had some time to look around and took some photos while waiting for the rest of our groups to join us.
On one side is the busy harbour will all types and sizes of boats.
It was so wonderful to stand there, to feel the ocean breeze and smell the scent of sea water in the cool evening.
We were either standing or strolling along the pathway. Some were having their photos taken and I snapped this photo as he whizzed past me.
Anchor and direction pole.
Sai Kung District, second largest district in Hong Kong.
On the other side, there are seafood restaurants displaying all types of fresh unique seafood. Introducing to you some of the unique seafood we will be eating for our dinner.
Lobsters
Scallops
Types of Fishes
Razor Clams/Razor Shells (left) and Oysters (right)
I have never seen such an abundance of fresh unique seafood before!
About Zebulun he said: "Rejoice, Zebulun,
in your going out, and you, Issachar, in your tents.
They will summon peoples to the mountain
and there offer the sacrifices of the righteous;
they will feast on the abundance of the seas,
on the treasures hidden in the sand."
(Deuteronomy 33:18-19, New International Version-NIV)
Gosh! I love seafood. Could not wait to see what you have for dinner.
ReplyDeleteRose, you will get to see in my next post. A great seafood feast!
DeleteNancy seafood doesn't look safe for me.
ReplyDeleteGosia, I love seafood. But I do know of people who could not take seafood due to allergy and I have also heard of seafood poisoning too.
Deletei stumbled on your blog while browsing for something and i'm glad I did, since then, your blog was one of my faves. ^0^
ReplyDeletei love how you share your food trips here and there and the photos always make me go hungry. ^-^
i just had to comment when you mentioned H.K.,
i just terribly missed this city esp the food and the local scenery. ^0^
seems to me, H.K still looks the same as it was years ago,
btw, have you also visited the Cheung Chau area?
a nice island as well.
anyways, everything looks fresh here and would love to try the snails perhaps, but my ultimate fave would be those scallops. ^0^
Hi, Arabesque, so nice of you to drop by to visit my blog and thank you for your encouraging comments. I am glad I visited Hong Kong, it was a wonderful experience getting to see Hong Kong and tasting all those yummy food. I do not think we visited Cheung Chau area. We were there only 5D 4N, there's plenty yet to visit.
DeleteI don't think I have seen so much seafood all in one place, apart from at a market perhaps. It all looks wonderful, I think I would have opted for the scallops or prawns.
ReplyDeleteIt was an eye opener for me to see so many types of unique seafood.
DeleteI just love seafood and just seeing so many different types of seafood, I'm in heaven. I can wait until you show us what you chose and how what you had for dinner. Yum, yum, yum.
ReplyDeleteHave a gorgeous Monday Nancy. See ya.
Cruisin Paul
Paul, I love seafood too but only tasted the common ones. Most of these we do not usually eat at home. The seafood dinner post will be coming next.
DeleteThanks, De. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteAnd it's all fresh too. Wow, that's some amazing shots of your adventure.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day Nancy. ☺
Thanks, Sandee. It was an exciting adventure indeed!

ReplyDeleteHi Rose, These marina pics are just a few of the many I have taken. I was struggling which to include in my post!
DeleteNeither have I. The seafood looks really fresh! I did not go to Sai Kung when I went HK so thanks for the photos!
ReplyDeleteMun, you are most welcome! We only have time for dinner in Sai Kung but no time for sight seeing in the day.
DeleteWow Nancy!! I would live to trade my food here with you anytime! Mine are mostly western... Hahaaa...just looking at the seafood makes me salivating....
ReplyDeleteClaire, you sure will love all those unique seafood! It is worth the visit and seafood tasting too.
DeleteSeafood is very good but we must be very careful during the hot months. Lovely photos. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda for your kind reminder. We are thankful we were all doing well after the dinner.

ReplyDeletewhat lovely choices you have. I would choose lobster. The ocean breezes are always welcome. thank so much for your comforting words. It is not a easy decision. Sasha passed on Sunday.
Time for grieving and healing.
Linda, so sorry to hear about Sasha. You and loved ones need the time for grieving and also time for healing but be comforted that Sasha will always be in your memory.
DeleteI loves all the pictures you took, very nice...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. Have a Happy Tuesday!
DeleteGood to see but not to eat :)
ReplyDeleteOh, you do not like seafood? Some of my friends do not take seafood because of allergy problem. I love crabs!
DeleteWow...what an amazing variety of seafood, Nancy. I love the harbour scenery. It's beautiful! ^.^
ReplyDeleteI too love the harbour scenery. I took quite a lot of photos but can't post them all.

Deletefuiyoh...seafood overload. Everything i see i also wanna try leh
ReplyDeleteHahaa..that's what I did. In spite of my dislike for raw seafood, I tried and no regrets!
DeleteNice boats, but I'm not a fan of seafood...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ladifi. Not everyone loves seafood. Even though I love crabs, I do not like all the seafood.
DeleteNice scenery. That's a lot of seafood & some of which I never see. I like razor clams cook with curry powder.
ReplyDeleteIrene, some I have not seen and have not eaten. The razor clams in HK are big compared to what we have eaten over here.
DeleteThe variety and quantity of that seafood is mind-boggling! So which ones ended up on your plate? :)
ReplyDeleteHi Stacy, in my next post you will get to see which ended up on the dinner and into my tummies...lol!
DeleteHi Andy, I understand not everyone likes seafood and seafood is also not good for everyone. Happy Tuesday!
