I spent last Saturday tidying up my garden, doing some weeding here and there. Hubby came home and informed that he didn't take any lunch and he wanted to have an early dinner. I stopped my gardening and kept back all the gardening tools.
It was a hot day and I quickly watered the plants before going in to take my bath. Those things sticking out on the hill top are transmission towers.
It was about 6.00 pm when we set off for our dinner in town which is about 12 to 15 minutes drive away.
We ordered a soup. Dried or dehydrated Chinese bok choy double boiled with chicken meat.
A small plate of steamed minced lean, fat meat with preserved Chinese mustard.
And blanched fresh baby Chinese bok choy with garlic oil and soy sauce.
We had white rice together with the above dishes.
Total cost of dinner for 2 people = MYR 17.00 (approx. 3.84 USD)
It was a Saturday evening and we attended the evening Church Worship Service. It did rain while we were in church. While driving home, hubby wanted to eat satay for supper.
Hubby drove to the food court near to our area. He ordered 8 sticks of mutton and 8 sticks of chicken satay or sate (grilled marinated meat). This is a new stall. Both the satay and sauce were very tasty but the service was a bit slow.
Spicy peanut sauce as dipping for the satay or sate together with raw onions and cucumber slices. Some may not like raw onions because of its strong smell. Eating raw onions has its many health benefits.
Instead, we will lovingly follow the truth at all times -
speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly -
and so become more and more in every way like Christ
who is the Head of His body, the Church.
Under His direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly,
and each part in its own special way helps the other parts,
so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.
(Ephesians 4:15-16, TLB)
Hi Nancy Your meals are such good value, you would not get a plate of sates here for the cost of your entire meal... we are sharing hot weather and stormy weather though!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend.
Wren x
Thank you, W.Wren. Some eateries here are still affordable for us to eat out. Have a lovely weekend too!
DeleteWonderful sky shots.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ladyfi. Have a wonderful weekend!
DeleteWe are not having good weather here either. Last week was constant rain so big dark clouds were constantly seen.
ReplyDeleteI hope both our weather will clear up and give us some nice cool days. Have a beautiful weekend!
DeleteNancy it was a busy and nice saturday love from Poland
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gosia. Have a great weekend!
DeleteHave not eat satay for quite sometimes...
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, we too have not eaten satay for a long time.
DeleteLovely dinner. I like the satay the most.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rose. We seldom take supper but I can't refuse satay for supper!
DeleteNice dinner like homecooked food. I guess satay is everyone's favourite including me but I don't dare to eat often as they are unhealthy. Unhealthy in the sense that they are put over the charcoal & once they fan the fire, charcoal dust fly & stick to the satay. Taken once in a blue moon is alright.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Irene. We too seldom eat satay even though we love satay. We only take it once in a while.
Deleteoutstanding sky shots
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tom. Have a lovely weekend!
DeleteThe bok choy sounds delightful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, EG. The fresh and tender bok choy was a delight. Have a wonderful weekend!
DeleteReally yummy food and nice sky pics, Nancy! Having thoughts about eating satay now...oops..maybe I should stick to salads for the moment..haha!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. Ha ha...salads are healthier and better for the time being...I too have to watch my diet.
DeleteHello Nancy, pretty sky shots and yummy looking meals. I would like the chicken on the sticks. Happy weekend to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen. I prefer the chicken too. The mutton was a bit tough. Have a happy weekend too!
DeleteGoing out to restaurant is so very expensive here as compared to Malaysia. I wouldn't bother to cook much if it was as cheap like at your place.
ReplyDeleteThe satay and those baby Chinese Bok Choy looks so yummy.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
JB
Hi Julia, sometimes it is more convenient and cheaper for us to eat out than to cook. We seldom go to the big restaurants which can be very expensive. We normally go the smaller eateries where the prices are more reasonable. Have a great weekend too!
DeleteBelas fotografias.
ReplyDeleteGostei.
Um abraço e bom fim de semana.
Thank you, Francisco. Have a lovely weekend!

ReplyDeleteHi Mun, early dinner for us is usually about 5.30 pm. We love satay but now we try to cut down and only eat once in a while.
DeleteOnce again I'm happy to look at some of the different types of food that you show us but once again I'm not sure if I would be able to eat some of them and I'm Italian, I usually will try everything but some of your types of food, well, I'm not sure but thanks again for showing us them.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day Nancy. See ya.
