Temporary Home For A Wounded Pigeon.

One morning, hubby told me that there was a pigeon in our garden and it had been there for some time without flying away. I didn't check it out but when I went to the garden the next morning to water my plants, I saw the pigeon. It looked like it couldn't fly away because of a wounded left wing. I went to get some rice to place on the ground for the pigeon. It must have been very hungry by now. When I was there, it didn't go near the rice so I went into my house, hoping it will eat when I was not there. After that, I totally forgot about the pigeon until the next morning.
When we came back from our morning walk, the pigeon was now in my front porch area. Again, I fed it with rice and place a container of water for it to drink. Whenever I go near it, it will move away. I didn't want to frighten it, so I left it alone.
The pigeon will stay at a safe distance and will only eat the rice when I walked away.
After it had eaten, it went to hide under the wooden shelves.
The pigeon will only reappear when it is hungry. Whenever hubby saw the pigeon, he will call out to me to feed the pigeon.
I don't know how long it will be with us.
I hope its left wing will recover and be strong enough for it to fly again.
I will feed it as long as it is still with us.
The only thing is that I have to wash the droppings it left behind on the floor.
It has been raining almost every afternoon. Looks like today is no exception.

Linking to Saturday's Critters.

The islanders showed us unusual kindness.
They built a fire and welcomed us all because it was raining and cold.

    1. Good thing it landed in my garden. If it has landed outside on the road, the stray dogs would have harmed it.

  4. Poor pigeon! I took care of one that was wounded as well when I was a little girl, that eventually died :( But this one looks pretty healthy except for the wing, so I'm sure it will recover!

  8. That's kind of you to take care of it. Here we have a wild animal hospital and i've taken many wounded or sick creatures there.

    1. Too bad we don't have wild animal hospital here. That would be the best place to take them to. Feeling sorry for the pigeon.

  9. Ohhh... you are the sweetest, Nancy! Hope the poor thing recovers soon. There's rarely any droppings from my two pigeons - I guess they 'do it' elsewhere .. (~.^)

    1. This poor pigeon couldn't go elsewhere to poo so it left its dropping on the floor.

  16. Nice act of kindness to the poor critter! Hope it becomes more accustomed to your presence as the wing may not be likely to heal by itself.

Good luck getting rid of that pigeon, if you are not careful it will bring others. Pigeons are notorious for being lazy when they are fed.
