One morning, hubby told me that there was a pigeon in our garden and it had been there for some time without flying away. I didn't check it out but when I went to the garden the next morning to water my plants, I saw the pigeon. It looked like it couldn't fly away because of a wounded left wing. I went to get some rice to place on the ground for the pigeon. It must have been very hungry by now. When I was there, it didn't go near the rice so I went into my house, hoping it will eat when I was not there. After that, I totally forgot about the pigeon until the next morning.
When we came back from our morning walk, the pigeon was now in my front porch area. Again, I fed it with rice and place a container of water for it to drink. Whenever I go near it, it will move away. I didn't want to frighten it, so I left it alone.
The pigeon will stay at a safe distance and will only eat the rice when I walked away.
After it had eaten, it went to hide under the wooden shelves.
The pigeon will only reappear when it is hungry. Whenever hubby saw the pigeon, he will call out to me to feed the pigeon.
I don't know how long it will be with us.
I hope its left wing will recover and be strong enough for it to fly again.
I will feed it as long as it is still with us.
The only thing is that I have to wash the droppings it left behind on the floor.
It has been raining almost every afternoon. Looks like today is no exception.
Linking to Saturday's Critters.
The islanders showed us unusual kindness.
They built a fire and welcomed us all because it was raining and cold.

He is very blessed to have landed in such a place, with a caring person who takes care of it!! I hope he recovers and flies away.
ReplyDeleteGood thing it landed in my garden. If it has landed outside on the road, the stray dogs would have harmed it.
DeleteAwwwww....sweet little pigeon. Thankfully he came to you and you are taking good care of it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. The only thing I know is just to allow it to recuperate and feed it. Thankfully, I no longer had a dog.
DeleteHow lucky for the pidge that he landed on your patio. Good luck

Thank you, dear. Fortunately for the pigeon!
Delete...a new guess.
ReplyDeleteHa ha...a self invited guest!
DeletePoor pigeon! I took care of one that was wounded as well when I was a little girl, that eventually died :( But this one looks pretty healthy except for the wing, so I'm sure it will recover!
ReplyDeleteLA VEINE
Thank you, Marta. I don't know whether this pigeon will ever fly again. Have a lovely day!
DeleteLucky pigeon.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Latane. Have a great day!
DeletePoor pigeon, it is lucky to run into you, hope it recovers soon and will be strong to fly again
ReplyDeleteI really hope it will be able to fly again. I won't be able to feed it if I go outstation.
DeleteFirst time I have heard of a pigeon eating rice! Ours eat lots of seed but rice....... Hope it recovers and glad it is being looked after. Diane
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I have is rice. It has been feeding on rice till now. Have a happy week!
DeleteGood of you to take care of the poor thing. I hope it recovers.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sallie. I do hope it will recover soon. Have a good day!
DeleteThat's kind of you to take care of it. Here we have a wild animal hospital and i've taken many wounded or sick creatures there.
ReplyDeleteToo bad we don't have wild animal hospital here. That would be the best place to take them to. Feeling sorry for the pigeon.
DeleteOhhh... you are the sweetest, Nancy! Hope the poor thing recovers soon. There's rarely any droppings from my two pigeons - I guess they 'do it' elsewhere .. (~.^)
ReplyDeleteThis poor pigeon couldn't go elsewhere to poo so it left its dropping on the floor.
DeleteWe have a few pigeons that like to hang out on our balcony. Hubby likes to feed them.
ReplyDeleteOne of our back neighbours has been feeding pigeons. This could be one of the pigeons.
Deletesweet! How lucky it is to have found you guys.
ReplyDeleteIn a way it is lucky because I do not have a pet dog. Have a nice week!
DeleteNancy, you are so kind to the pigeon!
ReplyDeleteI so kesian it and besides feeding it, I don't know what to do with it.

Deletehope its wing will heal soon. God bless you for taking good care of it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mun. I do hope it will heal soon. Hope it is not a broken wing.
DeleteHe is blessed to have found you, phyllis
ReplyDeleteThank you, Phyllis. Have a blessed day!
DeleteLove.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Regine. Have a lovely day!
DeleteOh oh... Hope it is fit to fly away soon!!
ReplyDeleteI do hope so. Looks like the wing is wounded.
DeleteNice act of kindness to the poor critter! Hope it becomes more accustomed to your presence as the wing may not be likely to heal by itself.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kenneth. I am at a loss. I don't know what to do with its wing even if it allows me to go near it.
DeleteLovely post dear! Have a great week! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Beauty. Have a great week too!
DeleteBlessings....
ReplyDeleteGood luck getting rid of that pigeon, if you are not careful it will bring others. Pigeons are notorious for being lazy when they are fed.
Oh, I didn't know that. But I can see that its wing is wounded. So far no other pigeon around.
DeleteGuess birds aren't like cats or dogs, as in they don't welcome human touch.
ReplyDeleteIt has been almost a week now. At least, it knows we have not done any harm to it. It waits to be fed every morning.
DeleteHello Nancy, I hope the pigeon is ok. Pretty photos. I am still running a little behind visiting my critter links! Thanks so much for linking up, have a great new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen. The pigeon has a good appetite but the wing is still not okay yet. I don't know whether the wing will heal for it to fly away or not.
DeleteYou are such a kind hearted person.. you are doing a great job..
ReplyDeleteThank you, Krishna. Feeding it is the only thing I can do.
DeletePoor little thing.
ReplyDeleteThis morning I saw the pigeon trying to flap its wings to fly but looks like it is not ready to fly yet.
