Dim Sum Breakfast & Winter Melon Noodle Soup For Dinner

Yesterday (104th day MCO), we met up with our friends for the first time since MCO was implemented. After watering my plants, we went to pick up our friends from their house.
Morning sky at 8:10 am - driving to our friends' house.
Thanks to our friends for this dim sum breakfast.
After breakfast, we sent our friends home. Our friends have prepared some fruits for us and we were invited to stay back to enjoy the fruits.
~~~~~
Lunch
We had chilled leftover winter melon and aloe vera sweet drink for lunch.
~~~~~
Dinner
With the 2nd half of the winter melon given by a friend, I used it to cook soup. Ingredients for the soup: Winter melon, aloe vera, carrot, pork ribs, red dates and goji berries.
I cooked yee mee or pre-fried noodle in boiling water and we had winter melon noodle soup for dinner.
For added flavour, we had this chili and garlic crisp condiment.
Beautiful hibiscus from one of our morning walks.
I can't remember when I saw these ceramic sculptures.

Remember me too, O Lord,
while you are blessing and saving your people.
Let me share in your chosen ones' prosperity and
rejoice in all their joys, and receive the glory you give to them.

Winter Melon & Aloe Vera Sweet Drink And Home Cooked Dinner

On Sunday morning, we walked to our regular coffee shop. Hubby had a cup of unsweetened black coffee and I had a bowl of herbal tea with a hard boiled egg. After that, we walked back home.
  Later in the morning, I warmed the steamed buns for hubby's brunch.
And I had cream crackers with home made pineapple jam.
~~~~~
Lunch
A friend gave me a winter melon the size of a football. I used half of it to boil sweet drink or tong kwa tong sui.
 Ingredients: winter melon, aloe vera, dried longan and cane sugar.
 This sweet drink or tong sui tastes better when it is chilled.
~~~~~
Dinner
Initially, I planned to steamed rice but last minute, hubby wanted noodle.
Fried threadfins fish or ikan senangin with ginger strips.
Since the fish was thawed, I went ahead to fried the fish even though we didn't intend to have rice for dinner.
 I reheated the leftover stewed pork belly
 Instead of steamed rice, I blanched napa cabbage and cooked dried Cintan noodle.
 We ate the noodle with leftover stewed pork belly and the fried fish.
 Simple home cooked dinner for 2 people.
 Setting sun at 6:50 pm.
Evening sky at 7 pm.
According to the weather forecast, it would rain in the evening but there was no rain.

Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant.
If they watch every cloud, they never harvest.

Home Cooked Yam Rice For Dinner

I had 2 medium sized taro or yam in my fridge and I couldn't decide on what to cook with it. I asked hubby whether I should cook yam rice or yam cake (woo tau koh) for yesterday's dinner. He thought for a while and replied that he prefer yam rice. So I cooked yam rice for dinner.
This yam rice has more yam than rice.
First fry chopped garlic and onions with cooking oil & sesame oil. Add pre-soaked dried prawns, diced mushrooms, ham, and then add yam cubes and finally add the rinsed rice. Add salt, soy sauce, oyster sauce and enough water to cook rice. Dish out into the rice cooker or steaming tray. Steam till the rice is cooked about 20 minutes or more. Give the rice a good mix and scoop onto serving plates to serve.
The yam rice looks pale because I prefer not to add dark sauce. Garnish with spring onions and served with lots of spicy chili and garlic crisp. I cooked more than enough for 3 people and I packed some for a friend. I had 2nd helping of yam rice. I am a big fan of yam and I love this delicious yam rice.
 Saw this banner and new signboard behind our regular coffee shop in our area. We are looking forward to have breakfast in this new eatery and our target will be the beef brisket soup.
Saw these hibiscus plants when we walked past this roadside stall. I stopped to take a snapshot and quickly moved on to avoid temptation.

Temptation is the pull of man's own evil thoughts and wishes.
These evil thoughts lead to evil actions and
afterwards to the death penalty from God.

Simple Meals & Snack On Day #101 MCO

We were looking forward to our morning walk when we woke up yesterday morning but have to cancel it because we could hear the pitter patter of rain on the roof awning. So I ended up preparing breakfast in the kitchen.
 Hubby had 2 half boiled eggs, burger, Taiwan garlic sausages and Nescafe. I had oat porridge with pine nuts, walnut chunks, cranberry and Nescafe.
 A friend gave me a guava. I sliced and pickled it with salted plum or assam boi.
~~~~~
Home Cooked Dinner
 Stewed pork belly with red fermented bean curd (nam yue).
 Steamed home grown white eggplants and snake long beans. Drizzled with olive oil, oyster and soy sauce and chili oil.
 A friend gave these sweet potatoes. So instead of oat porridge, I had steamed sweet potatoes. It may sound weird that I ate sweet potatoes with savoury dishes for dinner but I enjoyed it.
 Simple home cooked dinner for 2 people.
~~~~~
I was having breakfast with a friend one morning and my eyes caught something swimming in a big fish tank in the coffee shop.
Can someone identify this?
 When I went near to take a closer look, this water pet swam towards me.

Linking to Saturday's Critters.

Turn me away from wanting any other plan than yours.
Revive my heart toward you.
(Psalm 119:37, The Living Bible-TLB)

Dumplings From Friends & Home Made BBQ Pork

Dumplings Festival was celebrated yesterday (100th day MCO). No morning walk because it was drizzling when we woke up.
 Sunrise at 7:32 am
 A friend came over the previous day to give us 2 home made dumplings or bak chang.
 I re-steamed the bak chang from my friend for breakfast. Hubby had the one with the black eyed beans and I had the one with mung beans. It had 1 salted egg yolk, 1 chestnust, 1 mushroom and 2 pieces of pork belly.
 A satisfying and filling breakfast.
 Later in the morning, a friend sent her husband to deliver 2 home made bak chang to us.
 Keeping these in the fridge for another day's breakfast or maybe lunch.
~~~~~
Bak chang or glutinous rice dumpling is a traditional Chinese food. It is made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo leaves and tied with reed. It is then cook in boiling water for 2 to 3 hours.
 Exotic Caladium from my garden.
~~~~~
Dinner
 Melt in the mouth pan cooked bbq pork or char siew.
 Sambal petai or stinky beans left over from the previous day's dinner.
Simple home cooked dinner for 2 people
Steamed rice for hubby and oat porridge for me.

Only a simpleton believes everything he's told!
A prudent man understands the need for proof.
A wise man is cautious and avoids danger;
a fool plunges ahead with great confidence.

Kai Si Hor Fun & Home Cooked Sambal Petai With Minced Meat

Yesterday morning, I needed to go to the bank. Before going to the bank, we wanted to eat kai si hor fun or shredded chicken noodle soup for breakfast. We skipped our morning walk and went early for breakfast to beat the crowd. At about 7:50 am, parking was no problem and service was fast because not many dine-in customers.
 Shredded chicken noodle soup or kai si hor fun.
This is the 2nd time we had this for breakfast during MCO.
We felt as if we hadn't eaten any thing even after eating a bowl of noodle and a cup of coffee.
 Gardenia blooms with variegated leaves.

Home cooked dinner
 Stinky beans or sambal petai with dried prawns and minced pork.
 Assorted veggie in soup

This snapshot of The Octagon "tower" was taken while waiting at the traffic light on the way to the bank after breakfast.

for you are my high tower of safety, my God of mercy.
