Chili Garlic Prawns And Blanched Vegetables For Dinner

Today is the last day of year 2019 and also eve of the New Year 2020. Tonight many will be joining in the countdown to welcome in the New Year. My friends and I have planned for a simple dinner and have yet to decide on where or how to usher in the New Year. For the last post of year 2019, I want to share this simple home cooked dinner with you.
Prawns cooked with garlic, home grown chilies, and light soy sauce.
Blanched home grown baby pak choy or pok choy with soy sauce, garlic and onion oil,
Steamed home grown eggplants and snake beans, sprinkled with soy sauce, garlic and onion oil.

FLINTLOCK PISTOL - a gun originated from Europe, and widely used in the 15th and 16th century. The Dutch used these guns during their assault on the Portuguese in Melaka.
Bright and cheerful self-propagated periwinkles growing outside my house. It is a hardy plant growing well without much care.

Let him have all your worries and cares,

for he is always thinking about you

and watching everything that concerns you.

Dinner At Restaurant Fay Loo, Ipoh

Our friend wanted to eat porridge for dinner and we could only think of Restaurant Fay Loo. We were not able to get a table the first time because it was fully packed. The second time was a normal week day, so we were able to get a table for 4 people. We ordered the following dishes to go with rice or porridge. That evening, everyone chose porridge.
Fried egg omelette.
Fried minced meat with salted fish.
Fried black pomfret fish with salted vegetables and chili.
Sauteed water spinach with belacan (prawn paste)
Sweet and sour garlic condiment.
Plain rice porridge.
With the above dishes, I alone can eat 2 bowls of porridge.
Total dinner costs RM 83.80 for 4 people.

For it is from God alone that you have your life through Christ Jesus.
He showed us God's plan of salvation;
he was the one who made us acceptable to God;
he made us pure and holy and gave himself to purchase our salvation.

Chilled Desserts And Cute Critters

One warm afternoon, after going around town with our friends, we went to Laksa Leaf Cafe in Canning Garden. This is a nice and quiet place to hang out with friends. This place serves delicious laksa noodle and desserts. We were not hungry so we didn't order any noodle, we just order something light.
Ice Kacang (assorted treasures with ice shaving)
 Bubur cha cha
(coconut milk dessert with yam, sweet potato cubes, sago, and etc.)
From where I was seated, I saw these critter toys.

is happier than the man who is immensely rich!
For such wisdom is far more valuable than precious jewels.

Lunch At Little Tiger Char Koey Teow, Ipoh

A friend shared a post on a new eatery selling Penang char koey teow (fried flat rice noodle) and prawn noodle. Not easy to find really good Penang style fried noodle and prawn noodle. Hubby and I were telling each other that we should check out this new place. The following day we went there for lunch.  After looking through the menu, we settled for the following:
Penang char koey teow set including drink - RM 9.90
This fried noodle has fried lard cubes.

Today Is Christmas!

Today (25th December) we celebrated Christmas Day with a worship celebration in church.
Christmas is to celebrate the birth of the Christ child, Jesus our Saviour and Lord.
The Good News:
God loves us with everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3)
God loves even when we disregard Him and disbelieve Him (Romans 5:8)
Nothing can separate us from God's love (Roman 8:31-39)
Jesus brings hope and good news to all people.
For breakfast, we had Kai Si Hor Fun or chicken noodle, which is one of Ipoh's famous noodles.
Whenever we want to eat kai si hor fun, we have our own favourite places to go to.
Sometimes, we need some add-on (fish balls, etc.)
A bowl of kai si hor fun may not be enough for some people.
There are times we will need to order a plate of fried noodle to share.

Warmest wishes to you and your family.
Have a great and wonderful Christmas and New Year!

Our First Visit To BookXcess, Kong Heng Ipoh

I have heard of BookXcess but I have not visited the place. Initially, I checked and it seemed it only opens for the weekends and public holidays. That is the time when the whole area is the busiest and parking hard to get. Since we were at Concubine Lane, and our friend suggested that we pay a visit to BookXcess, it was a good opportunity to check out this place.
This is the first sign that greeted us.
We need to go down the narrow stairs
Let's get down and nerdy!
We need to go further down to reach the vault.
BookXcess Kong Heng builts its bookstore within a bank's vaults and safety deposit boxes.
This vault was owned United Asian Bank and its origins can be dated back to the 80s. The tiles, vault doors, and safety deposit boxes have been preserved in its original state to evoke its rich history.
Many books on display including children's books.
Reflection.
Children's book.
Books and safety deposit boxes
We will need more time to go through the titles of these books.

Tonight (24th Dec.), we will be celebrating Christmas Eve
and tomorrow (25th Dec.) we will be celebrating
the birth of Jesus Christ, the Messiah (our Saviour).

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Long ago God spoke in many different ways to our fathers
through the prophets, in visions, dreams, and even face to face,
telling them little by little about his plans.
But now in these days he has spoken to us through his Son
to whom he has given everything and through whom
he made the world and everything there is.
