BBQ Pork (Char Siew), Meat & Fish Balls & Blanched Beansprout

The day started with a lovely pink sky. It has been quite a while since the last time we have friends over for home cooked dinner. I sent my friend a text message asking her whether she had any plan for that evening. The answer was a "no". So I invited her over for a simple home cooked dinner and she accepted the invitation.

Home cooked dinner with friends.
Melt-in-the-mouth bbq pork.
My own version of pan cooked bbq pork (char siew).
Fried minced pork + fish paste balls.
Crunchy blanched beansprouts, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
My friend contributed this home cooked fried wonton noodle with Chinese sausage and veggie.
She also contributed this fried cereal chicken.
It is good to catch up with our friends over a home cooked meal.

From my garden.
The first time I planted carrots, I managed to harvest some small stunted carrots. Hopefully, this 2nd round, I have better harvest.
This pot of Brazilian spinach has grown lush and healthy and is ready for harvest soon.

Yes, the gladness you have given me is far greater than
their joys at harvest time as they gaze at their bountiful crops.
I will lie down in peace and sleep, for though I am alone,
O Lord, you will keep me safe.

Fried Grouper Fish, Home Grown Veggie & Salted Eggs

 It was drizzling when we woke up, so no morning walk for us.

Sunrise blocked by grey cloud at 7:42am.
~~~~~
Teochew porridge for dinner.
Fried grouper slices, topped with ginger strips fried in oil and drizzled with soy sauce.
Steamed home grown long beans and okra, topped with sambal dried shrimp.
Boiled the last 2 remaining home made salted duck eggs.
I saw this antique tap head at one of the places I visited in Penang.
If you exalt wisdom, she will exalt you.
Hold her fast, and she will lead you to great honor;
she will place a beautiful crown upon your head.
My son, listen to me and do as I say,
and you will have a long, good life.
Chicken Rendang, Chives With Sambal Dried Shrimps & Salted Egg
We overslept but we still go for our morning walk anyway. As we stepped out of our gate, we were greeted with a lovely sunrise.
Golden sunrise at 7:35am.
Can you see the bird flying above the sun?
I took out the last packet of frozen chicken rendang from the freezer to thaw. My freezer will be empty very soon.
Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you.
Blanched Brazilian Spinach, Crunchy Fried Anchovies & Chicken Herbal Soup
On this particular morning, we were later than usual in setting out on our morning walk. As we walked out the gate, a lovely sunrise awaited us.
~~~~~
In the late afternoon, I harvested some Brazilian spinach and a long green okra from my garden.
I trimmed the spinach leaves before rinsing them with water.
Will be planting these Brazilian spinach stalks in another pot.
Blanched Brazilian spinach and okra, drizzled with garlic oil and sambal dried prawn.
Crunchy fried anchovies.
Leftover herbal chicken soup from the previous day.
Our simple home cooked dinner with steamed rice.
Steamed rice not in the photo.
~~~~~
Back in my garden, I spotted 2 big grasshoppers on my edible plants.
Grasshopper #1
Grasshopper #2
Grasshopper #1 is bigger and deeper colour.
Grasshopper #2 is smaller and the colour more faded.
I wonder if these 2 grasshoppers are a couple, just paying a visit to my garden.
God sits above the circle of the earth.
The people below seem like grasshoppers to him!
He spreads out the heavens like a curtain and
makes his tent from them.
Chinese Herbal Chicken Soup With Noodle
I took out 1 whole chicken from the freezer the night before to thaw in the lower shelf of the fridge. I wanted to use the chicken to cook Chinese herbal soup.
Chinese chicken herbal soup with noodle.
This was to be our simple home cooked dinner for 2 people.
Before we had dinner, my neighbour called me. They cater food for dinner but since they had to take their guests for dinner, they asked whether I would mind having their food as they didn't want to waste the food. Of course, I won't mind.
Bitter gourd and chicken cooked with preserved black beans.
They actually cater for 1 person but the food is enough for 2 small eaters.
Sauteed broccoli and carrot with garlic.
Salad with thousand island dressing.
Hubby and I ended up eating all the above.
When I took the garbage out, there was this beautiful golden sunset.
Sunset at 7:14pm
I quickly went back into the house to get my smartphone to take these snapshots.
7:18pm
Reflection of the sunset on the opposite side.
Deep red Caladium in my garden.
I thought I lost this Caladium for good when it disappeared 2 times. But it reappeared again and is now doing very well.
I know very well how foolish it sounds to those who are lost,
when they hear that Jesus died to save them.
But we who are saved recognize this message as the very power of God.
