Lunch At Pusing Public Restaurant, Ipoh & Brazilian Longan

This rainy season has not been good for some of my plants. One of them is my hibiscus plants, actually 2 of my hibiscus plants.

This photo was taken before the rainy season started.
The flower has multi layers petals.
I tried to save the plant by trimming away all the sick looking branches and it is now bald. I don't know whether it will be saved and I do hope it will grow back again.

Lunch at Pusing Public Restaurant, Ipoh with some church members.
I think this is sweet sour grouper fish slices.
Asparagus with prawns.
Sweet and sour pork.
Steamed free range chicken with blended ginger.
French beans and brinjal with preserved vegetable (mui choy).
Tofu
Chilled watermelon.
This was lunch for 7 people.
A friend gave us some Brazilian longan.
The skin of Brazilian longan is very hard and thick. I need to use an iron pestle to knock and break open the skin of the longan.
The flesh of the Brazilian longan is thick and sweet, but not as juicy as the Thailand longan.

Follow my advice, my son;
keep it in mind and stick to it. Obey me and live!
Guard my words as your most precious possession.
Write them down, and also keep them deep within your heart.
Love wisdom like a sweetheart;
make her a beloved member of your family.

Traditional Soy Sauce Factory, Gopeng

This was Friday, eve of General Election (GE15). Younger son took about 5 hours of driving to reach home which on normal days will only take about 3 hours. Both our sons return home for polling day which was on 19th November (Saturday). That evening, we had home cooked dinner for the 4 of us.

Minced meat with fish paste patties.
Blanched home grown nai pak choy, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Pig stomach, pork belly, ginkgo nuts, ginger and white peppercorn soup.
~~~~~
19th November (Saturday) was polling day.
I was the first to finished casting my vote, so I waited outside the school gate for my sons.
I was standing beside a motorcycle which had the above image on the bike.
Hubby went back to Gopeng to cast his vote. My 2 sons and I went to Gopeng to join him for lunch at Lawan Kuda.
But first, we stopped at this traditional soy sauce factory in Gopeng to buy a few bottles of soy sauce for our sons' friends.
Sun dried soy beans using the traditional method of fermenting and processing the soy sauce and soy bean paste.
The products and their prices.
A newspaper cutting in 2013 mentioned that this factory is over 60 years old. So now in 2022, the factory will be over 70 years old.
I wanted to buy the thick soy sauce but it was out of stock. I bought a bottle of black vinegar to try. It had no label so I stuck a label to it in case I forget.
I would have you learn this great fact:
that a life of doing right is the wisest life there is.
If you live that kind of life, you'll not limp or stumble as you run.
Carry out my instructions;
don't forget them, for they will lead you to real living.
(Proverbs 4:11-13, The Living Bible-TLB)
Attractive White Flower Of Bottle Gourd
I finally get to see the white flower of the bottle gourd plant and get to take some snap shots of the attractive white flower.
Fan like green leaves of the bottle gourd plants.
Bud of the bottle gourd plant.
Usually the flowers are facing upwards above my head so I couldn't see or take good photos of the flowers. This flower happened to be at the edge of the trellis where I can see it clearly.
Attractive delicate white flower of the bottle gourd.
These are some of the bottle gourds harvested from my garden.
This is still growing well even in this rainy season.
Pork tenderloin cooked with Sichuan pickled mustard.
Steamed 3 types of eggs (chicken eggs, century egg & salted egg).
What a God he is! How perfect in every way!
All his promises prove true.
He is a shield for everyone who hides behind him.
Split Cabbage Head In My Garden
Before the rainy season started, I had 5 pots of cabbage plants growing in my garden.
This was taken in August, 2022.
This was taken in September, 2022.
This was taken in October, 2022.
The cabbage plants were growing well and healthy.
Here in this photo, the cabbage heads have started to form.
November, 2022.
This cabbage head is getting big.
This is the biggest of them all.
Due to the rainy season, the excess water has caused this cabbage head to split.
The split affected the whole cabbage head.
The insufficient sunlight also contributed to the damage.
Even the figs also split open due to excess water.
This is the curled up flower of the cranberry hibiscus.
Cranberry flowers.
Took this photo on a sunny morning.
This photo of the zebras was taken by a friend who visited the Taiping zoo.
Beautiful stripes on the zebra.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our wickedness
[our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing];
The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him,
And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed.
Breakfast On A Gloomy Day
The ground was still wet from the early morning rain.
Low cloud covering the top of Kledang Hill - 7:10am.
Sunrise at 7:20am - as we were driving out to town for breakfast.
I took these photos from a moving car. Hubby was the driver.
We had breakfast at Kedai Kopi Keng Nam, which we haven't been to for a long time.
Hubby ordered dry curry noodle.
I ordered chee cheong fun or steamed rice noodle roll.
Half without filling and half with yam bean filling.
Curry gravy, chili sauce and pickled green chili.
When I am here, I couldn't resist ordering this steamed glutinous rice with kaya (coconut jam). The glutinous rice is "lemak" with "santan" or coconut milk.
Our drinks: Unsweetened black coffee for me and Chinese tea for hubby.
Linking to Skywatch Friday.
Don't do anything that will cause criticism against yourself
even though you know that what you do is right.
For, after all, the important thing for us as Christians is not
what we eat or drink but stirring up goodness
and peace and joy from the Holy Spirit.
