Growing White Corn In Pots And In the Ground

The days are dry and hot. Whatever we have growing in the garden are not doing well. One of the plants that are doing well is the white corn which doesn't seems to be affected by the hot and dry weather.

This is the 2nd time I am growing white corn. These are grown in pots.
The white corn is not nice to eat on its own but I will be using them to boil soup.
These 2 plants are grown in the ground outside my house.
I saw these 2 motorcycles when we were holidaying in Penang.
These 2 treasures were parked in front of a restaurant.

Your laws are my joyous treasure forever.

Snake Plant & Cordyline Plants Are Flowering

On Sunday, a friend sent the following photos from her garden.

Photos credited to Shirley T.

So nice to see her snake plant blooming.
Snake plant has such pretty flowers.
Her Cordyline Red Sister plants are also flowering.
The flowers are so pretty.
They do look like orchid flowers.
Once upon a time, I too had this plant in my garden but no more.
Found this truck model next to the lobby of the hotel we were staying in when we were in Penang.
And these portraits on the wall at the same place.
These must be some famous celebrities.

It is better to be slow-tempered than famous;
it is better to have self-control than to control an army.

Steamed Chinese Pomfret Fish & Sengkuang Cooked With Pork Strips

On Sunday morning, I was bored with noodles so I told hubby I will walk over to the dim sum restaurant near my house to buy the following items back and brought them to our regular coffee shop.

#1 - Baked bbq bun for me.
#2 - Steamed bbq bun for me.
2 fishballs: 1 for me and 1 for hubby.
Hubby bought a piece of Chinese cruller and Chinese fried doughnut for himself (no photo to show). We ordered unsweetened milo for me and Chinese tea for hubby.
Beautiful altar flowers at the church on Sunday.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner.
To clear the stock from the freezer, I will try to prepare home cooked lunch and dinner for both of us.
Steamed 2 slightly bigger than palm size Chinese pomfrets.
I have 2 more Chinese pomfrets in the freezer for the next meal.
Yam bean and carrot strips cooked with pork strips.
I bought the yam bean thinking I will be making pie tee shells for the new year but it was not to be.
Chinese or Lunar New Year greeting from Eu Yang San Medical hall in Ipoh old town.
The new and the old.
Saw this 90's Classic Barber Shop at the side of a corner shop which was recently renovated.
When someone becomes a Christian,
he becomes a brand new person inside.
He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!
All these new things are from God who brought us back to himself
through what Christ Jesus did.
And God has given us the privilege of urging everyone
to come into his favor and be reconciled to him.
Dinner 2nd Day CNY 2023
On most days, I only have to cook dinner. Many eateries were closed on the 1st and 2nd day of Chinese New Year 2023 (Sunday & Monday). Those that were opened were fully booked. So since Sunday, I have been cooking both lunch and dinner.
Blanched Chinese baby kai lan, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Poached Bearded Chicken.
There is a vast difference between a steamed and a poached chicken in texture and taste. My whole family prefers poached than steamed chicken.
Pounded ginger mixed with a bit of salt and with some hot garlic oil poured over it. A great condiment to eat with the poached chicken. Preferably add in some chopped spring onions but I didn't have any. I thought I bought some but couldn't find any spring onions in the fridge.
2 Sundays before Chinese New Year, there was a sponsored buffet lunch at The Salvation Army Perak Home For The Aged in Jelapang. It was a combined celebration of Christmas 2022, New Year 2023 and Chinese New Year 2023.
An old fashioned house front in Penang. The house looks like nobody has been staying in it as you can see all the letters were not picked up.
Stay always within the boundaries where God's love can reach and
bless you. Wait patiently for the eternal life that our Lord Jesus Christ
in his mercy is going to give you.
Pork Porridge & Pork + Seaweed Noodle For Dinner
On this particular day, we sent a friend home and we got out to visit her garden.
She has a coffee tree growing in her garden. First time I see coffee fruits on the coffee tree. I came back with 2 plants and quickly planted them into pots in my garden.
1st plant is Tillandsia lindenii - the flower looks like a spade.
At the tip of the spade is a bluish or purple flower.
2nd plant I think is a Guzmania but I haven't seen the flower yet.
Dinner at the hawker centre.
Hubby ordered pork porridge.
I ordered pork + seaweed with rice vermicelli.
An old fashioned safe, a luggage bag or chest and hats placed on top of the safe.
When I look up into the night skies and
see the work of your fingers - the moon and the stars
you have made - I cannot understand how you can bother
with mere puny man, to pay any attention to him!
And yet you have made him only a little lower than the angels
and place a crown of glory and honor upon his head.
Home Grown Green + Purple Brinjals & Ladies Fingers
During the long rainy season, some of the edible plants that did well are the ladies' finger and the brinjals. Brinjals are also known as eggplants or aubergine.
Long green ladies' fingers.
Green brinjals.
Purple brinjal.
Purple brinjal.
Purple brinjals take slightly longer time to cook than the green brinjals.
On this particular morning, I harvested 2 long green ladies' fingers, 1 purple brinjal and 3 green brinjals.
I usually steamed the brinjals and the ladies fingers. Sometimes, I will add them to the curry dish. This time, I used the brinjals and ladies' fingers together with cabbage to cook with sambal belacan + dried shrimps.
I saw the following photos when I was holidaying in Penang. I know the 2 portraits belong to 2 members of the Beatles group but I don't know their name. Can you help me with their names?
Some Of My Breakfast Food
I am running out of food photos to post because I have been eating more or else the same food that I have posted before.
Loh mai kai or steamed glutinous rice with chicken from the drink section in Restoran Yee Lock in Ipoh new town.
One of our favourite curry noodles from Kedai Kopi Ah Chow in Ipoh old town.
We also like the garlic bread from the drink section.
Due to my poor digestion or gastric problem, I have to go on a bland diet. No coffee, tea, spicy or sour food and no fried stuffs. I have to be a good girl and obey the doctor's instruction. Hopefully, I will recover soon because I am getting bored with the bland diet.
Algaonema Pink Lady from my garden.
Flower of the Aglaonema Pink Lady.
This is hubby's vertical garden project, growing lettuce.
I received some miniature purple brinjal or eggplant from a friend.
The green brinjal is from my garden.
Whenever I don't feel like going out to eat, I will think of frying rice with onions, dried shrimps and egg.
This is the City Hall in Penang.
From the internet: It was completed in 1903. This 2-storey building combines Edwardian Baroque and Palladian architectural styles. It has been listed as a national monument since 1982 under the Antiquities Act 1976. The building was last renovated between 2004 and 2005. Although the City Hall retains much of its original form, the original arcades or loggias on the ground floor have been enclosed with windows.
Let me share in the prosperity of your chosen ones.
Let me rejoice in the joy of your people;
let me praise you with those who are your heritage.
