Steamed Chinese Pomfret Fish & Sengkuang Cooked With Pork Strips

On Sunday morning, I was bored with noodles so I told hubby I will walk over to the dim sum restaurant near my house to buy the following items back and brought them to our regular coffee shop.

#1 - Baked bbq bun for me.

#2 - Steamed bbq bun for me.

2 fishballs: 1 for me and 1 for hubby. 

Hubby bought a piece of Chinese cruller and Chinese fried doughnut for himself (no photo to show). We ordered unsweetened milo for me and Chinese tea for hubby.

Home cooked dinner.

To clear the stock from the freezer, I will try to prepare home cooked lunch and dinner for both of us.

Steamed 2 slightly bigger than palm size Chinese pomfrets.

I have 2 more Chinese pomfrets in the freezer for the next meal.

Yam bean and carrot strips cooked with pork strips.

I bought the yam bean thinking I will be making pie tee shells for the new year but it was not to be.

Steamed Big Bun, Lotus Leaf Rice, Baked Buns & Pandan Sponge Cake

I overslept and woke up late. By the time we set out for morning walk, it was past 7am.

Mid morning, our neighbour bought 4 packets of nasi lemak for us. We opened 2 packets and ate for lunch. The remaining 2 packets we kept in the fridge for dinner.

For dinner, I cooked sambal petai or sambal stinky beans.

I steamed to heat up the nasi lemak from lunch.

We ate sambal stinky beans with the nasi lemak.

Every morning we passed by this house with beautiful garden.

That is hubby admiring the beautiful plants while I took this snapshot.

Buns & Bread And Sweet Sour Pig Trotter

There are mornings when the sky is just gray with no sign of sunrise in sight. Then I will be looking for some other interesting things to take snapshots. There is one newly renovated double storey corner house that we used to pass by.

The new owner has planted these decorative trees and grass on this raised up area.

Breakfast

We had steamed buns (from neighbour) for breakfast.

2 buns with bbq pork filling and 2 with chicken curry filling.

These 2 baked buns with bbq pork filling were for mid morning snack.

For lunch, we had Campbell's chicken soup and bun with garlic butter spread.

These corn on cobs were for afternoon snack.

I bought some century eggs and I remember I have pickled ginger in the fridge. Century egg drizzled with a bit of sesame oil is best eaten with pickled ginger.

Home cooked dinner.

Sweet, sour, and spicy pig trotter dish. 

Just this dish alone is enough to go with steamed rice.

This lovely sunset made up for the lack of sunrise.

There is one public pay phone booth still standing in front of the row of shop houses. On a closer look, one can see that it is no longer working because the receiver is missing. These days, hardly anyone would use a public pay phone. Almost everyone has a hand phone.

Home Cooked Drunken Lala Or Clams Soup & Salted Chicken Egg

Yesterday morning, we began our morning walk at about 6:10 am. As we were almost reaching the shops behind our house, it began to drizzle. We started to quicken our walk but it began to rain. We have no choice but to run to the shops. We got a bit wet but not drench with the rain.

Passing by this corner coffee shop, I spotted this electric scooter. I have seen this scooter a few times but this is the first time I took a snapshot of it.

We walked to our regular coffee shop for breakfast and at the same time to wait out the rain. We only ordered 2 cups of coffee because our friend gave us 2 buns the moment we sat down at the table. When the rain slowed down, we walked home. We were offered umbrella but we declined. It has been along time since I last walked in the rain. I used to walk in the rain when I was in my teenage years. We took warm bath once we reached home.

Lunch for hubby.

I cooked instant noodle with some clams (lala), green veggie (choy sum), ginger strips and sesame oil. I bought 1 kg of clams (lala) for RM 10. A friend blessed me with some green veggie (choy sum).

A friend gave us 4 freshly baked buns which she bought from the nearby bakery shop. I ate 2 of these soft and fluffy buns with pineapple jam for my lunch.

Dinner

With the clams (lala), I cooked drunken lala with clouds ear fungus, dried lily buds, pork belly slices, ginger strips, bird's eye chilies, and Chinese cooking wine.

I sent this portion of clam soup to our friend at the coffee shop.

Update on my home made salted chicken egg at 35 days.

At 35 days, the yolk of the salted egg became more grainy and has more oil. Thumbs up from hubby.

We enjoyed our dinner with the salted egg and hubby's favourite drunken clam soup.

Western Style Dinner & Wild Plants At Fraser's Hill, Pahang.

For the 2nd evening at Fraser's Hill, we requested for Western Style dinner and the operator prepared roasted pork for us. Due to the lighting in the dining hall, the photos are not clear.

We had homemade buns with butter. 

Mushroom soup.

 Baked Potatoes

 Blanched crunchy cabbage.

 Roasted Pork Slices with pieces of crunchy pork skin.

 We were given 2 different type of sauces.

 And we had this for dessert, I think it is called Banana Pudding Cake.
