We have been passing by this roadside stall whenever we go on our morning walk. There will customers waiting in line to take away their breakfast. So yesterday the 78th day MCO, we crossed over to the other side of the road to see what the Indian lady and her daughter are selling. They sells nasi lemak, fried rice vermicelli, and idli (rice cake). Since this is the first time, we bought the following items to try.
~~~~~
Breakfast
Fried vermicelli Indian style with spicy sambal.
Hubby's breakfast with Nescafe.
My breakfast with Nescafe.
2 idli (rice cake) with coconut chutney and dhal curry. I asked for 1 idli but I was told that I had to take 2 idli instead.
Mid morning: Hubby and I went shopping at Aeon Big Falim. Among the items I bought were the above ice-creams and some potato crisps (not in the picture).
A friend sent some of their home grown Jack fruits to us.
~~~~~
Lunch
Herbal chicken soup with croissants bought from Aeon Big Falim.
Remaining portion of the herbal chicken soup from the previous day.
~~~~~
Dinner
2 pax of glutinous rice with chicken (lor mai kai) from a friend.
I rather they do not use these aluminium foil.
To warm up, I steamed the lor mai kai.
Onion and egg omelette - special request from hubby.
Blanched baby kai lan (Chinese broccoli) drizzled with garlic oil and soy sauce.
Strange combination for a satisfying dinner for 2 people.
Dear friends, don't be bewildered or surprised
when you go through the fiery trials ahead, for this is no strange,
unusual thing that is going to happen to you.
Instead, be really glad - because these trials will make you partners
with Christ in his suffering, and afterwards you will have the
wonderful joy if sharing his glory in that coming day
when it will be displayed.
The vermicelli looks great. We have the Mini Magnums in our freezer now!
ReplyDeleteThe Mini Magnums are still in the freezer, hope to enjoy it tonight after dinner.
DeleteDelicious! Love kai lan with lots of fried garlic :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie.
DeleteMy kind of breakfast soneday when I feel like having spicier or flavourful food.
ReplyDeleteLove the fried vermicelli and sambal. We went back again to buy for this morning's breakfast.
DeleteI love Chinese broccoli too....good for our health
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tanza.
DeleteWow... so much food! Even with the restrictions, food is not a problem.. Thank God for that!
ReplyDeleteYes, thank God.
DeleteWow, as always such a wonderful array of tasty looking food.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mamas.
DeleteI like lo mai kai. Good to have some greens to go with it so that the meal is well balanced.
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a wonderful day.
DeleteDelicious foods 😊 thanks for your sharing 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a good day.
DeleteAgree both on the strange and also the satisfying part of the dinner haha.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.
Delete...quite an array!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tom.
DeleteIt all looks good and I noticed you eat a lot of boiled chicken something we don't often do here, did years ago but not these days.
ReplyDeleteWe love soup boiled with free range chicken, especially herbal soup.
DeleteYum.
ReplyDeleteThank you, RR.
DeleteI hope you liked the Indian food...everything sounds so interesting.
ReplyDeleteWe like the Indian fried vermicelli and went back to buy again this morning.
DeleteOh, I was reminded of having eaten herbal chicken in one of the Chinatowns in my city ... It is very rich in nutrition and has the ability to help speed healing and increase endurance.
ReplyDeleteIt is a tonic for good health.
DeleteI'm starving this morning and all this wonderful food. I want some of each dish.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day, Nancy. ♥
Thank you, Sandee. Have a wonderful weekend.
DeleteI must say everything looks delicious. I have never seen Jack fruits before!!!
ReplyDeleteStay safe, Diane
Thank you, Diane. Stay safe too.
DeleteI like to eat idli. Do you like it?
ReplyDeleteYes, I like idli with curry and chutney.
DeleteThe chicken soup u boiled looks so delicious! You must have cooked a huge portion to be able to have four big bowls. How many liter of water did u use to boil this chicken soup?
ReplyDeleteI used the soup bowl to measure out 4 bowls of water for 1 packet of herbs and 1 free range chicken. I boiled the soup in a pressure cooker.
DeleteWah, love the ice cream u bought. Magnum and Cornetto ice cream are my favourites. Did you put them in cooler bags to ensure that they don't melt during your journey home?
ReplyDeleteThere is no need for cooler bag. I make sure we drive home immediately after buying the ice cream. Aeon Big Falim is quite near my house. The ice cream went into the freezer once we reached home.
DeleteI like your Chinese broccoli. I don't have garlic oil, but will try to use some kind of dressing like yours for my green veggies.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gigi.
DeleteAll the lor Mai Kai that I have eaten and seen are in aluminum foil. Have you seen any that are not in aluminum foil?
ReplyDeleteI have seen lor mai kai in metal bowls but I can't remember where. Those in aluminium foil is convenient for taking away.
DeleteOnion and egg omelette might be the best for your hubby but I enjoy it also. For some reason Nancy, I just can't enjoy Indian food.
ReplyDeleteCruisin Paul
I understand that Indian food is full of spices and it is spicy too.
DeleteSometimes you have a taste for something different and it works well.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the crowd was right and the food was good. Most of the time, if people line up it is because the place is worth the wait.
Usually where there is a crowd, the food will be good.
DeleteI am now very tempted to buy ice cream!
ReplyDeleteHahaha..nice ice cream is hard to resist.
DeleteJust like when we order roti prata from the indian stall here, we were told we must order at least two.
ReplyDeleteSo far, we have no problem ordering single roti prata. This is the first time we were told that we have to order at least two.
