Chili Pan Mee, Peanut Corn Pancake & Mooncakes

This was a Saturday with a lovely morning. I took a snapshot before I started my morning walk.

Sunrise at 7:05am
7:10am
7:15am
Can you see the birds on the tree?
They are chirping their morning greetings to one another.
~~~~~
After morning walk, we drove out to the Kg. Simee market.
I bought 1 kg duku (RM5).
2.5 kg longkong - RM8 per kg
Both longkong and duku are sweet but longkong is juicer than duku.
Then I stopped to buy 2 pieces of thin peanut+corn pancakes.
Next, we drove to buy chili pan mee for breakfast.
We were late, so we have to wait in the car for about 30 minutes.
While waiting in the car, hubby and I ate the pancakes.
Filling: margarine, sugar, crushed peanut and corn cream.
Since we have the pancakes, I ordered only 1 set of chili pan mee.
Vegetable soup is provided.
This is our favourite chili pan mee.
Later in the morning, we received a package addressed to hubby.
Inside was a pink metal box with 2 mooncakes, individually wrapped.
The price printed on the wrapper - RM22.80
Shanghai mooncake with lotus paste + 1 salted egg yolk
Pandan with Black Sesame mooncake (RM21.80)
We didn't know who ordered these mooncakes from JMM Cookies, Ipoh.
We only found out the next day that it was from hubby's ex-colleague after receiving a call asking him whether he has received a package.
During this rainy season, wild mushrooms have started to appear in my garden.
That afternoon, we were blessed with 2 home made mooncakes.
Snow mooncake (left) and lotus+salted egg yolk mooncake (right).
Traditional method of threshing padi or rice.
This snapshot was taken when we visited the KL museum in Dec., 2018.
It is true that I am an ordinary, weak human being,
but I don't use human plans and methods to win my battles.
I use God's mighty weapons, not those made by men,
to knock down the devil's strongholds.
  4. I've seen sellers adding corn to the peanut pancake but not here.
    I know duku...and langsat but not longkong - not really a fan of those.
    I guess those mushrooms are not edible.
    So blessed, got people giving mooncakes. Now who gave the latter two? I like the traditional one on the right, not the Shanghai or the snowskin...or worse, agar agar!
    1. The latter two moon cakes were given by a friend. Hubby also prefers the traditional one. For me, I am not the fussy one even though I have my own preferences.
  11. I miss that thin version of apam! The last time I went to the market (a couple months back by now), I chose the thick one as figured the thin one wouldn't travel well.
    Wow special-looking mooncakes.
    1. The thick one is filling but nice also especially with lots of filling. The thin one is nice when eaten fresh when still crispy.
