This was last Friday. The day started with a gloomy gray sky.
Morning sky at 7:25am
Hubby went to buy fried noodle while I stopped at a new stall to buy 2 curry puffs for RM1.
I was watching a cooking video and it has to do with olive vegetable. I was curious, so I bought 1 bottle to try. I took out a bit to eat with my oat porridge (above). I still prefer the crunchy texture of the pickled lettuce.
I had a pleasant surprise that morning when I was watering my plants in the garden. I looked up the banana tree and saw that it has budded. Sometime last year, a friend gave me a baby banana plant because I want to plant one in a pot just for its leaves.
A few months later, I changed my mind and thought of cutting it down but kept putting it off.
It looks like a type of banana (pisang awak) that is only good for cooking or frying and not nice to eat fresh when ripen.
I am curious to see how the bananas will turn out and decide whether I still want to cut it down.
I have been watching the progress of the formation of the bananas.
So far, I can see 3 small combs of bananas.
For these, I am thankful.
For dinner, we had leftover food from the previous day's dinner. In addition to the stuffed items, I also make fried dumplings (sui kao) with the extra filling. It was a no rice dinner because we wanted to finish all the leftovers.
This Good News tells us that God makes us ready
for heaven - makes us right in God's sight - when we put
our faith and trust in Christ to save us.
This is accomplished from start to finish by faith.
As the Scripture says it,
"The man who finds life will find it through trusting God."
(Romans 1:17, The Living Bible-TLB)
fried noodles looks tasty!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nux.
DeleteWowww!!! I wish I had green fingers like you. I would love to have a tree in my garden for the leaves, not so much for the fruits. I can buy those easily from the neighbourhood shop in the next lane from my house and anyway, I can't eat much since I'm on a low sugar diet.
ReplyDeleteIt was for the leaves that I wanted to plant the tree but got blessed with bananas too.
DeleteBelas fotografias e deliciosos pratos.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e continuação de uma boa semana.

DeleteHow cool with the banana tree! Please make updates :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Iris. Every morning I will check on the bananas.
DeleteCongrats! Must be exciting to follow the progress of the formation of the bananas. Nice dinner 👍with lots of yong tofu aka stuffed items so definitely don't need rice. I have tried the olive vegetables condiment before and I find it to be very, very salty. Did you find it salty?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mun. Yes, I too find the olive vegetable salty.
DeleteDinner looks nice.
ReplyDeleteThat’s an achievement growing a banana tree, well done.
Thank you, Margaret.
DeleteHow fascinating to have your own bananas, that's great. I wonder what they will be like when they are ripe. Have a great day, enjoy your lovely food, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThank you, Valerie. I think its a type of banana that will only taste good when cooked.
Delete...what a treat to have.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tom.
DeleteMorning sky at 07:25 looks great Dear friend! Your banana plants are amazing and look very healthy and fresh.
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a wonderful weekend.
DeleteWow, a really banana tree with really bananas. I would wait before you cut it down. I want to see what you end up with. Fantastic Nancy.
ReplyDeleteCruisin Paul
Yes, I am waiting for ripe bananas.
DeleteSo many yummy treats! Good job on the home grown bananas, Nancy.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie.
DeleteI want some of all the food. I always want your food.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day, Nancy. ♥
Thank you, Sandee. Have a fabulous weekend.
DeleteHello Nancy,:=) What an achievement to grow a banana tree in a pot. Please don't cut it down. It will be interesting to watch it's growth.
ReplyDeleteThis morning I saw a tiny shoot coming out from the soil. There is going to be another banana plant.
DeleteWow I am amazed at that tree flowering while growing in a pot, I guess it has quite a big pot!! Well done. Keep well Diane
ReplyDeleteThank you, Diane.
DeleteThat is so impressive growing a banana tree in a pot. The leftover meal looked so tasty.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mamas.
DeleteThe banana tree looks so pretty. We don't have them in Oregon. I'm sure it will be well worth trying the bananas to put in food. Your food looks good as always. We had a bit of rain Tues a.m. I didn't have to water plants that I forgot to water on Monday. I do need to put more water in the bird bath. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Grandma Beckyl. It is nice to have a bird bath in your garden and watch the birds taking their bath there.
DeleteSo why had you changed your mind?
ReplyDeleteBecause the banana plant is so skinny and tall, hard to reach the leaves.
DeleteWahhh... I miss your dishes... yes, I took porridge with the olive like yours.. my son loves this with porridge... eyeing your fried wanton!
ReplyDeleteCan you find wanton skin over there? They make nice snacks or can go with home made noodles too.
DeleteIt sounds nice to be able to grow your own cooking bananas. Your leftovers look delicious!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mimi.
DeleteThat morning sky looks much like present conditions here.
ReplyDeleteThank you, William.
DeleteHow big is the banana tree? I want to grow one!
ReplyDeleteIf you have space, it is good to grow in the ground. Banana tree can grow up to double our height and they multiply sideways.
DeleteHermoso árbol de banano . Te mando un beso y buen fin de semana
ReplyDeleteThank you, JP.
DeleteI was struck by a banana tree! Such beauty!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Elena.
DeleteThat gives me hope for my balcony.
ReplyDeleteThere is a dwarf banana that you can grow in a pot suitable for your balcony.
DeleteBy the way one banana plant will only fruit once. So you can cut down the old tree and keep the new one.
ReplyDeleteEven before I could cut the old tree, a new one is growing now.
DeleteHow bloody cool are the bananas
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jo-Anne.
DeleteLa platanera me gusta. Besos.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa.
