On Friday 26 December 2014 midday, my friend and I drove from Ipoh to Batu Gajah to visit a friend who was admitted in the Batu Gajah hospital, Jalan Changkat. For the past one week and a half, it has been raining non-stop. On that particular day, it was drizzling all the way to Batu Gajah.
It was about midday when we drove from Ipoh to Batu Gajah to be in time for the 12 pm to 2 pm visiting time. The evening visiting hours are 5 pm to 7 pm.
Even though it was visiting time, the place was very quiet. If not for the hospital signage, it could be mistaken for a nature resort. We walked through the front gate, and headed toward Ward 2.
These old buildings with the old structures have been well maintained and well preserved until today.
After we have finished our visitation, we walked back the way we came in. This is just outside Ward 2, this time we slowed down to view the scene before us.
The surrounding is very quiet and restful. It is also very spacious and airy.
The drizzle has almost stopped at that time and the ground was wet with puddles of water here and there. The vast spacious ground is filled with greens, very soothing, calming and pleasing to the eyes.
I think this is called therapeutic landscape or garden to promote healing for the patients. Swings and benches are provided and placed in shady areas for the visitors and patients to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the place.
Even along the corridors, there are potted plants to give it a natural ambiance. We can also hear the birds chirping away somewhere in the trees.
The vast spacious ground is filled with greens, very soothing, calming to the worried and anxious minds.
Something caught my friend's attention, she called to me to join her to take a closer look. This tree has long strings of cute flowers coming down from its branches. Can you see the big red ants going up and down the flowers stem? According to the sweeper lady, this is called "putat" tree, these fruits can be eaten as salad (ulam) for medicinal benefits.
Amazing root networking on the ground and nature's act on these leaves. Our eyes have seen and our minds enriched with interesting things on this trip to the hospital.
As we walked out from Ward 2, we saw this arch in front of us, this is another part of the hospital. From the photos you can see that the sky is dull, grey and the atmosphere dreary even though it has stopped drizzling. Do stay tuned for the 2nd part of our visit to Batu Gajah.

It looks more like a beautiful park than a hospital. Very peaceful & quiet. Nature's act makes the leaves looks unique.
