From the previous post of our visit to Antong Coffee Mill in Taiping, we moved on to the show room and visitors' centre which is just a few steps away from the coffee mill.
This is the scene that greeted us once we stepped into the show room / visitors' centre. This same elderly uncle in person and in the poster gladly posed for me. The 2 glass containers hold the plain crackers/biscuits for us to dip into the free samples of different types of coffee. Servers with flasks of hot coffee pouring out coffee for visitors to sample. I was too busy testing out and enjoying the coffee and crackers and totally forgot to snap photos of the servers.
Ready packed coffee products and biscuits/crackers for sale here.
I didn't buy any coffee because I still have stock to last me a long time. But I bought 2 packets of biscuits that taste so much better than those sold in the stores. I only have long type left but the other type I have eaten all. These was my childhood's favourite and still is until today!
A poster of the late Dr. Sun Yat-Sen & Chen Cuifen. This was the house where they stayed while they were in Taiping. The arrow shows the way to the upper level to view some ancient treasures.
Old photos of the former occupants.
An antique brush hanger and teapot.
An antique wooden chair
These are the oldest panel and most valuable item in the show room.
A antique cheque or check writer machine.
Old fashioned enamel tiffin carrier, mug & container.
Old fashioned fire extinguishers.
Old fashioned luggage chest, hats and safe.
Old photo of the existing clock tower in Taiping.
Wind chimes made from recycled coca-cola cans.
A statue of Dr Sun Yat-Sen under the porch of the front portion of the house which is now the show room or visitors' centre.
These were some of the compulsory items including the enamel potty for newly weds in the old days and some still follow this tradition in our present days.
Linking to Tuesday's Treasures.
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,
continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him,
strengthened in the faith as you were taught,
and overflowing with thankfulness.
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and
deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and
the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.
(Colossians 2:6-8, New International Version-NIV)

Thank you, Rose. Make a trip to visit for the next school holiday. Taiping is a nice place to visit.
DeleteA bit too ancient for my liking haha.
ReplyDeleteHa ha some prefer the modern and cleaner machinery. The ancient way using wood or coal doesn't look so clean.
