I have the Mother-in-law's plant or Snake plant in my garden for many years. I have 2 pots of this plant and I placed them outside my house.
It is very hardy and grows easily. It is low maintenance. The plant is also drought tolerant. Over watering or bad drainage will cause rotting.
This plant spread through rhizomes. Propagation can be done through whole plant with rhizomes or stem cuttings.
One day, I decided to decorate my plants with egg shells. My neighbour's grandchild loves to see the egg shells.
Unfortunately, all the egg shells were blown away by strong wind and it happened a few times. I gave up collecting egg shells and at present they are without the egg shells.
I just found out that these plants cleanse and purify the air. I intend to propagate one or two and grow them in decorative pots to place inside my house.
Having such great promises as these, dear friends,
let us turn away from everything wrong,
whether of body or spirit, and purify ourselves,
living in the wholesome fear of God
giving ourselves to him alone.
(2 Corinthians 7:1, The Living Bible-TLB)

DeleteThis is a good plant to put in the house as it purifies air like what you have said.
ReplyDeleteHi Mun. Yes, I am thinking about it.
DeleteThose plants are supposed to be good for producing oxygen at night. When the haze was so overwhelming last year, I did a little research (there's a great Ted Talk about it) to find out some environmentally friendly ways to combat it, and these plants were recommended for the bedroom at night.
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear for the confirmation of the benefit of this plant. I will grow some to place in my house. Great way to purify the air in my house.
