These days, the days are hot and sweaty. Some evenings we will get heavy downpour. Some evenings we only get to hear the rumbling of thunder and maybe a few drops of rain. When there is no rain, we will have to rely on the air-conditioner in our room to sleep.
Sunrise at 7:30am.
On this particular morning, I went to the garden to take a look at the plants. This bitter lettuce plant is growing taller than me.
My red and green algaenoma still surviving.

My sister-in-law's daughter and her friend dropped by to visit us on her way to Penang. My sister-in-law sent lots of goodies to us and the yellow dragon fruit and plums (below) were among them.
The first time I saw this yellow dragon fruit and its plant was when we visited a farm up on a hill in Gopeng. The red skin dragon fruit is more common and easily found. So far I haven't seen this yellow dragon fruit being sold anywhere. I was told that this fruit costs about RM20.
Yesterday, I washed the skin of the whole fruit, cut it into halves. I scooped out the flesh of one half and tasted it. It was very sweet and juicy and the seeds crunchy. I gave the other half to hubby to taste. Good thing the flesh is white because he refused to touch the red flesh dragon fruit. Lol!

My good friend Aislynn shared some snapshots of murals painted by her cousin sister Julie Chong. Julie Chong is a talented artist and she has painted many murals in other countries as well.
#1 mural, credited to Julie Chong.
For the first mural, I chose this from many others because I like the cute little birds.

Your words are what sustain me; they are food to my hungry soul.
They bring joy to my sorrowing heart and delight me.
How proud I am to bear your name, O Lord.

What a cute mural! We have these birds here and call them House Sparrows, or English Sparrows. I have an algaenoma just like yours!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny.
DeleteThat bitter lettuce plant looks like a giant wild arugula / rocket salad. I have never seen the yellow variety over here. Taste same like the red one?
ReplyDeleteThis yellow one is more juicy and sweeter than the red one.
DeleteNon conosco questo frutto, mi piacerebbe assaggiarlo, buona giornata!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Paolina.
DeleteCute and beautifully painted
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bertiebo.
DeleteHi Nancy, good to hear from you. I haven't tried yellow dragon fruit. I believe that it is as tasty as red and white dragon fruits. Thanks for showing us that the flesh of yellow dragon fruit is white. The birds mural is indeed very skillfully drawn. Please take good care!

DeleteCute mural. I love dragon fruit. We have white flesh with red skin variety, growing over our fence, cultivated by our Vietnamese neighbors. Tastes sweet and delicious, best when refrigerated.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gigi. I love the red skin with red and white flesh too.
DeleteI have never heard of bitter lettuce or yellow dragon fruit, interesting.
ReplyDeleteWe are back home at last and I will be catching when I have time.

DeleteLooks like there´s new sunny day in ahead for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, PP.
DeleteI never tasted yellow dragon fruits. I don't remember I seeing the real fruits but been seeing it online before. Just had white dragon fruits over the weekend. My kids like white than red. Maybe they are scared by the red colour. Lol. Hard to find white dragon fruits as they are imported. The locals we have mostly are red in colour.
ReplyDeleteAfter having taste the yellow dragon fruit, I think I prefer the yellow dragon fruit. Between the red skin dragon fruit red and white flesh, I prefer the red flesh because I find that it is more juicy than the white flesh.
DeleteI tried dragon fruit one. I thought it was ok in taste.
ReplyDeleteOhh this mural is too cute!
Thank you.
DeleteLove the murals. I would love to try the dragonfruit
ReplyDeleteThank you, Yogi. You will definitely enjoy the fruit.
DeleteI have never tried either of those fruits! The mural is just gorgeous, I love birds so that really caught my eye :) Thankfully we have had warm days but cool nights.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Connie.
DeleteAh the price of the yellow dragon fruit has gone down. It used to be RM35 here which I thought was astronomical. People were making reservations at the shop for it some more. So my kiasu hubby also was buying whenever he saw new stocks. To me the taste is ok but after eating a lot (courtesy of hubby), decided that I don't like the seeds being that crunchy.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know it is that expensive when my SIL told me the price of it. True, I would prefer the seeds to be smaller.
DeleteI did a bit of shopping at Safeway grocery store after finally leaving the tulip farm. In the fruit and vegetable section, I saw a green dragon 🐉 what they are selling drsgons? Not sure what it 🤔 is and I didn't get closer to it. Maybe next time. There's more sunshine this afternoon instead of rain. It rained most of Monday.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were given delicious food from a nice lady. God bless and have a blessed week as you heal. 🙏 🌷
Thank you, Becky.
DeleteOh! I didn't know that there is a yellow Dragonfruit variety. I thought the flesh would be yellow but it is white.
ReplyDeleteIt is my 2nd time seeing this yellow dragon fruit but it is my 1st time tasting it.
DeleteI read you don´t like your weather - I would love it.
ReplyDeleteI hate mine. Cold, grey, no sun, no rain, either. Plants don´t get green.
A joy to visit you!
Dragon fruit here is pink. We had it but once as it is very expensive.
Very cute birds.
Our weather here is hot and humid, makes you sweat alot.
DeleteA lovely sunrise.
