A Grand Farewell Dim Sum Breakfast Treat In Hong Kong

Hong Kong, Day 5 - Dim Sum Breakfast.

On our last morning in Hong Kong, we didn't expect Pete to turn up. Surprisingly he was at the apartment door right on time. Since it was our last day in Hong Kong, he and his wife insisted on giving us a dim sum breakfast treat.

Our trip to Hong Kong has been very blessed. Right from the moment we set foot on Hong Kong until the time we boarded our flight back to Malaysia, we were very well taken care of, our tour schedule were well planned and we get to taste so many different varieties of delicious Hong Kong food. We just couldn't find the right words to express our gratitude and appreciation to all our Hong Kong friends who have made our trip a very memorable and blessed one.  

We were invited to breakfast at the Cheerful Sky Cuisine at Kwun Tung, Kowloon.

Indeed, a very pretty sight as we entered the restaurant.

Many tables were occupied and we were led to a bigger table for 8 people.

We were seated away from the morning crowd.

Our hosts, a loving couple pored over the illustrative menu.

To order, just choose and tick against the items on the order forms.

The following items were ordered by our lady host to be shared by 8 people.

 Porridge/Congee - dried vegetable with minced meat.

Steamed rice with braised chicken claw & pork rib with dipping sauce.

Gathering Cum Dinner Treat At Fo Tan, Hong Kong

Hong Kong, Day 4 - Dinner Treat At Fo Tan.

After a short tour at Fa Yuen street, the ladies wanted to go shopping and the men wanted to check out the prices for mobile phones. So a lady friend, hubby and I decided to go back to our apartment to take a rest and do some packing because we will be taking our flight back to Malaysia the next day.

By evening, the men came back and together we will be meeting up with the ladies at Fo Tan, in the district of Sha Tin for our dinner. Fo Tan is a funny name. Initially, I thought it means 'charcoal' in Cantonese. But I was told that from the Chinese character, it literally means 'fire beach'. It was a dinner cum gathering of relatives and friends, and the Hong Kong relatives wanted to host this dinner.

Took the MTR to Fo Tan. Waiting at the traffic light to cross the road to meet up with the ladies and especially our dinner hosts.

This was where we had our dinner. I think those seated inside, surrounded by the plastic sheets, get to enjoy the air-con. There were altogether sixteen of us, seated at a king sized table! And here's our dinner dishes.

Deep Fried Spring Chicken - very crispy skin and the meat very tender & tasty.

Chicken porridge/congee - a big bowl, tasty and well cooked.

Stir-Fried Noodle with bean sprout.

Deep Fried Soybean Cake in Batter.

Deep Fried Calamari or Squid in Batter.

Dipping sauce for Deep Fried Calamari.

Fish Porridge/Congee - a big bowl, tasty and well cooked too.

Blanched Broccoli with Stir-Fried Canned Mushrooms, etc. in gravy served with dipping sauce.

Deep Fried Pig's Intestine served with dipping sauce. I didn't taste any of the sauce.

Deep Fried Fish Balls served with dipping sauce, made from the fish called 'lean yu' or 'ling yu' in Cantonese.

Braised Chicken served with Deep Fried Bitter gourd with salted egg.
So here ended our last dinner in Hong Kong, our next day dinner will be at the airport. On behalf of our whole group, we once again give thanks to our dinner hosts.

Visiting Fa Yuen Street And Tofu Fa At Mong Kok, Hong Kong

Hong Kong, Day 4 - Fa Yuen Street at Mong Kok.

As usual we set out early with Pete as our tour guide. Today, Pete will be taking us to Mong Kok for breakfast and after that a short visit to Fa Yuen street.

While waiting for the apartment door to be locked, we waited at the corridor. We cannot help but noticed the cleanliness of the whole place.

We travelled by MTR from Ngau Tau Kok to Mong Kok, 9 stops away.

After our delightful breakfast, we took a walk around the area. We walked along Mong Kok Road.

We also walked along Tung Choi Street.

We passed by many shops selling aquariums, accessories and fishes.

Many varieties of colourful fighting fishes.

And here we were at the popular Fa Yuen Street.

This is the Fa Yuen street market. People and stalls filled up the street.

A very busy and crowded place. Both sides of road lined with stalls.

An interesting place to look around and compare the prices. I am a hopeless shopaholic so I didn't buy anything.

Our next stop was to try out Hong Kong's sweet dessert, the soybean milk pudding (tofu fa).

Because of the poor lighting, the photo did not turn out well. the soybean milk pudding is supposed to be white but you can still see the silky smooth texture of the pudding.

There was no seat available, so we stood and ate the soybean milk pudding.

The soybean milk pudding was silky smooth and tasty.

Besides the soybean milk pudding, there were many other food varieties on sale. Food on skewers and different sauces to go with.

Different varieties of fish and meat balls, sausages, nuggets, etc.

This looked like braised beef and innards. We didn't try any of this as we were not hungry yet.

They will never again be hungry or thirsty;
they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun.
For the Lamb on the throne will be their Shepherd.
He will lead them to springs of life-giving water.
And God will wipe every tear from their eyes.
