Guzmania Flower & Kacang Putih Processing Machine

After a long spell of hot weather, we finally had a heavy downpour yesterday evening. That helped to cool down the temperature.

Sunrise at 7:05am.

Currently, good news is that I am now sleeping better and have better appetite. Three more days, I will be going to the hospital for the pre-chemo blood test.
A few mornings ago, I took a walk into my side garden and found my Guzmania plant blooming. I will have to remind hubby to feed it some fertilizer.

And why worry about your clothes?
Look at the field lilies! They don't worry about theirs.
Yet King Solomon in all his glory was not clothed as beautifully as they.
And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers
that are here today and gone tomorrow,
won't he more surely care for you, O men of little faith?
(Matthew 6:28-30, The Living Bible-TLB)
On my return from the hospital after the chemo treatment, we passed by this roundabout with this interesting structure. It is a structure of an Indian snack (kacang putih) processing equipment. Hubby had to make another round around the roundabout for me to get another snapshot of the structure.
This structure in the roundabout is in an area which is well known for its many variety of Indian snacks (kacang putih) being processed and sold here. Many from other places outside of Ipoh will come here to buy some Indian snacks whenever they are in Ipoh.

Beautiful Critters At Gopeng AgroTech Farm

After we have finished touring the outdoor farm in the hot sun, we returned to the main building to cool down.

Facing the pond in front of the main building.
Chicken pens beside the main building.
2 peacocks.
I was hoping that it will show off its beautiful feathers to me.
Coconut trees line the side of the pond.
3 white geese swimming in the pond.
Aren't they beautiful?
Low coconut tree laden with coconuts.
Fishes in aquarium.
Yellow parakeet in a cage.
A colourful parakeet.
There 2 are the star attraction.
The owners took the birds out from their cage and placed them on the stands.
Visitors were taking snapshots of these birds.
These 2 are very friendly and they make loud squawking sound.

Any story sounds true until someone tells the other side

Purple + Green Amaranth & Bottle Gourd From My Garden

On this particular morning, I noticed that the purple and green amaranth were ready for harvest

The above is just enough for 2 people.
I also harvested the above bottle gourd to make soup for dinner.
This is hubby's bowl. He prefers the soup more than the ingredients. I am the one who usually will finish most of the ingredients.
I also make minced meat + fish paste patties.
I blanched the purple and green amaranth.
This is plain without any garlic oil or soy sauce.
This was our dinner without any rice.
I kept back some of the patties for the next day's dinner.

Thanks to Shirley for sharing the following photos with me.
She saw these chickens when she was out on her morning walk.
These chickens look healthy and well fed.
These chickens belong to one of her neighbours.

And how can we be sure that we belong to him?
By looking within ourselves:
are we really trying to do what he wants us to?

Dinner At Kok Thai Restaurant, Jalan Gopeng, Ipoh

It was another hot and humid day for us.

Sunrise at about 7:08am.
Setting out on our morning walk.
That morning, I had breakfast with 2 ex-colleagues/friends.
The rest of the day, I stayed home with the fan on full blast. I was in lazy mode and was glad that I need not have to cook dinner that evening because we had dinner with friends at Kok Thai restaurant. There were 8 of us and we had the following dishes for dinner.
Stir fried assorted vegetables with macadamia nuts and ginkgo nuts.
Braised pork tendon, shiitake mushrooms, tofu, etc. in claypot.
Pork belly slices in soy sauce.
Poached chicken, somewhat salty to be eaten wrapped with the lettuce leaves.
Lettuce leaves with blended ginger.
Sweet potato leaves in claypot.
Steamed tilapia with special spicy sour sauce.
The dinner came to RM243.40 (incl. 6% service tax) for 8 people.
It was a weekday so the place was not crowded.

After this,
I heard what sounded like a vast crowd in heaven shouting,
"Praise the LORD!
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God.

Blanched Beansprout & Poached Chicken For Dinner

This was last Saturday morning.

Sunrise at 7:05am.
Morning sky at 7:20am.
After breakfast, hubby went out to meet up with his friends.
And I went out to pick up a butter lemon cake (RM18) which I have ordered.
Instead of my usual chempedak cake (RM12), I wanted to try this butter lemon cake which my friend said is nice.
It smells nice but it is more expensive than the chempedak cake. To me, both butter lemon cake and the chempedak cake are equally nice but husband doesn't like the slight sourish lemon taste. He prefers the chempedak cake.

Another lazy day for the cook. This time we had "nga choy kai" or beansprout and chicken for dinner. We haven't been to this place for more than 2 years, even before the pandemic started.
A bowl of flat rice noodle aka koay teow (RM2.30) in plain soup.
Poached chicken (RM17).
Blanched beansprout or nga choy (RM4).
Plus a glass of lime syrup (RM2.30).
Total cost of our shared dinner RM25.60.

Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence him.
With them alone he shares the secrets of his promises.

Spicy Sour Mustard Green, Roast Pork & Poached Chicken

This was a Tuesday and it was a no-cooking day for me. We were invited to lunch by our old friend or my ex-colleague and her husband. Our friend called us up a few days earlier to book us for lunch at her house. It is safer than sitting in a crowded restaurant. Both are in their 70s and takeaway is the best option for them. They know where to find and takeaway the best food in their vicinity and everything was ready and waiting for us when we reached their house.

Lunch for 4 elderlies.

Spicy and sour mustard green which is one of our favourite.
She even bought an extra pack for me to take home to enjoy.
Roast pork and bbq pork.
(the bbq pork was not added yet when I took this snapshot).
Poached chicken.
Pumpkin.
1 packet of seasoned rice.
1 packet of plain white rice.
Thanks to our friends for a tasty lunch and wonderful fellowship.
~~~~~
Takeaway dinner for 2.
We went to takeaway (tapau) 2 sets of wonton noodle from Buntong village.
The noodle was served with pork strips gravy and we requested for extra dumplings (wontons).
They make their own wonton noodle.
The noodle was served with blanched beansprout and spring onion.
Calamity will surely overtake the wicked;
heavy penalties are meted out to those who hate the good.
But as for those who serve the Lord, he will redeem them;
everyone who takes refuge in him will be freely pardoned.
(Psalm 34:21-22, The Living Bible-TLB)
