Hubby bought this plant from the plant nursery many years ago. At first, we planted it in a pot and later transferred it to the ground just outside our house. It has been growing very well and I have to trim it to keep it in shape.
Someone from the gardening group helped me identify this plant. I was told that this is the Dwarf Variegated Madras Thorn plant.
Some told me that this is also called the Snow Bush plant. With the white leaves, it does look like Snow Bush.
I have tried many times to propagate this plant with stem cuttings but have not been successful. Some of my friends have also tried and have failed to propagate too.
I have found this non-variegated Madras Thorn tree in my neighbourhood. The leaves are plain green and look exactly the same as the Dwarf Variegated leaves.
I have told you that I love your garden right? I've also mentioned a time or two that you have a wonderful green thumb.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day Nancy. ☺
Thank you, Sandee. Praise the Lord, some plants do seem to grow beautifully. Have a fabulous day too!
DeleteIt looks quite sizeable!
ReplyDeleteThank you, William. Have a wonderful day!
DeleteI successfully grew the plant with a seed. Fyi I live in Hawaii.
DeleteYeah, I have a pot of this plant. The way you describe the leaves, from pink to white then to green, I am sure it is the same plant as mine. Hard to propagate this plant with stem cutting???..but according to my hub, it is very easy. Each time he did it successfully.
ReplyDeleteHi Irene. then I must keep on trying. I have tried propagating others but for this particular plant, I just can't. Maybe I must used a more matured part of the plant. Have a beautiful day!
DeleteThe plant on the 6th picture, very pleasant looking..

DeleteNancy, this is a pretty looking plant. I am quite scared of thorns and I once discarded a plant that had beautiful flowers because of that.
ReplyDeleteLol! Phong Hong, that's the reason I transferred this plant outside my house. Its a pretty plant and we don't want to part with it, Only thing is I have to be extra careful with it when I want to trim it. Have a great day!
Deletenice plant with thorn I thin it does not grow in my climate zone
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gosia. Maybe this plant may not be able to tolerate the cold weather in your climate zone. Have a fabulous day!
DeleteIt's so beautiful, Nancy.
ReplyDeleteHey....this makes me wonder is this the plant that is shown in FB..The guy trying to haul off the whole pot. But took so much time to do it
Oh, really? I think I must have missed that! The guy is the owner of the plant?
DeleteA very pretty plant, I love the variety of colour. Does it change throughout the season or as it ages?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mamas. Whenever the new leaves appear, they will be pink and then they changes to white and green. It is not seasonal.
DeleteGostei destas verdejantes fotografias.
