Hubby bought this plant from the plant nursery many years ago. At first, we planted it in a pot and later transferred it to the ground just outside our house. It has been growing very well and I have to trim it to keep it in shape.
Someone from the gardening group helped me identify this plant. I was told that this is the Dwarf Variegated Madras Thorn plant.
Dwarf Variegated Madras Thorn is its common name.
Pithecellobium duice is its scientific name.
The young leaves are pink and as they mature they turn to white and green.
Some told me that this is also called the Snow Bush plant. With the white leaves, it does look like Snow Bush.

I have to be careful of the thorns whenever I trim the plant.
It is an evergreen plant, very hardy and easy to maintain.
I have tried many times to propagate this plant with stem cuttings but have not been successful. Some of my friends have also tried and have failed to propagate too.
I have found this non-variegated Madras Thorn tree in my neighbourhood. The leaves are plain green and look exactly the same as the Dwarf Variegated leaves.
This plant is drought and pests tolerant. The plant is most beautiful with the new pink leaves. Its a beautiful bush but be careful of the hidden thorns!
