Hearty Breakie At Restoran New Hollywood, Ipoh

We woke up at 6 am on the previous Saturday morning and drove to the recreation park for our early morning walking exercise around the lake.
After 2 rounds of walking, I took this sunrise picture.
After half an hour later, with another 2 rounds of walking I took this picture.
We usually do 3 to 4 rounds of walking around the lake and for this Saturday morning we did 4 rounds.
Then we drove all the way to Canning Garden to have our breakie (breakfast) at Restoran New Hollywood, located along Jalan Lee Kwee Foh.
I've tasted the Siamese Laksa from this stall on my 1st visit after the renovation and on the 2nd visit I wanted to try the Prawn Mee.

1st visit - Our breakie
I ordered a bowl of Siamese Laksa. I have not eaten Siamese Laksa for a long, long time.
A brighter view - Siamese Laksa with round rice noodle, small pineapple pieces, mint leaves and fish flakes from the specially made delicious soup.
Hubby's breakie - Fried flat rice noodle (kway teow) with prawns, cockles, egg and mung bean sprouts. Served on a piece of banana leaf lined plate with some chili sauce.
Addition order - deep fried neen koh. Neen koh slice sandwiched between sweet potato and taro slices, dipped in flour batter before frying.
(Neen koh is a kind of sweet cake made from glutinous flour)

2nd visit - Our breakie
My breakie - a bowl of prawn mee (yellow noodle with half a hard boiled egg, 2 prawns, slices of fish cake, mung bean sprouts, green veggie called water convulvulus in specially made delicious prawn soup). It is served with special sambal sauce.
Hubby's breakie - fried rice vermicelli (beehoon) with prawns, cockles, egg and mung bean sprouts.
Suddenly have craving for these crispy deep fried "lobak" items and 1 century egg with pickled young ginger. Century egg is a Chinese delicacy made by preserving duck or chicken eggs in a mixture of alkaline clay, etc. The egg yolk turns black and the white turns a dark brown translucent jelly. It is best eaten with pickled young ginger.
A plate of "lobak" served with chili sauce.
Driving home after breakie. Have to pass under this pedestrian overhead bridge in front the Ipoh general hospital and thanking God for our able bodies and good health.

Linking to Skywatch Friday.

Jesus answered them,
"It is the sick who need a doctor, not those in good health.
My purpose is to invite sinners to turn from their sins,
not to spend my time with those who think
themselves already good enough."
(Luke 5:31-32, TLB)

    1. Thank you, Phong Hong. We always eat out for breakfast so we get to eat varieties. If I eat at home, then I will probably be eating biscuits or bread with coffee which I enjoyed very much. The thing is hubby doesn't like biscuits and bread! Have a great Friday!

    1. Thank you, Irene. Siamese Laksa is different from Assam Laksa. Siamese Laksa is lemak because of the Santan. I love to eat both types of laksa. Oh yes, I love deep fried neen koh too! Have a beautiful Friday!

  5. Does Siamese Laksa taste the same as Penang Assam Laksa? I like to eat the meehoon and century egg! Have a good weekend!

    1. No, the Siamese Laksa is not the same as Penang Assam Laksa. Siamese Laksa is lemak with coconut milk. Assam Laksa without coconut milk and is more sour. Have a lovely weekend!

    1. Sharon, Siamese Laksa has coconut milk and finely chopped salted radish (choy por) which Assam Laksa does not has. Assam Laksa is more on the sourish side.

  14. It's amazing how different your breakfasts are then mine. I eat oatmeal with raisins, seeds and nuts and fruits or berries with a little milk and coffee most morning because of it's health benefit. I only eat deep fried food on rare occasions even though I love deep fried food. Not much variety in my morning meals I'm afraid.

You have a nice morning routine together. You must get hungry after walking so much.

    Hugs,
    JB

    1. Hello Julia, I would love to eat healthy breakfast once in awhile but not everyday. Lol! Maybe because over here, all the varieties of breakfast are so easily available and its very tempting to eat these not so healthy breakfast. After a few rounds of walking around the lake, we have good appetite for breakfast. But of course most of our lunch is very light.
