Its Tuesday again and I am sharing more treasures from my visit to Ho Yan Hor museum. These snapshots were taken in the kitchen. To read about my previous post, click here.
These are granite grinders.
From left to right. A granite pounder and 2 herbal clay pots. The centre one on a charcoal stove and the one on the right on a wood burning stove.
Old biscuits tins. Only the Jacob & Co biscuit tin on the right is familiar to me.
All these containers are not familiar to me.
One item I recognize! The Cadbury chocolate tin.
I recognized the Nestum tin in the centre and the Farley's baby food tin.
An enamel kettle on a hanger. A herbal clay pot and a kuali with cover on wood burning stove.
I remembered we were using a similar stove during my younger days.
More treasure kept here.
We had similar "meat safe" those days. Even without the refrigerator, food those days do not go bad so fast.
An antique weighing machine on top of the meat safe.
Those days, all our doors are quite similar to the one above. Some have 1 wooden latch, some have 2 or more wooden latches.

The following photos are for joining & Flower Wednesday.
Though these are just yellow Croton leaves, they can be as beautiful and colourful as some flowers.
Took a snapshot of a multi layered hibiscus flower next to a shop. I snapped this photo under the glaring midday sun.
This one looks like a rose.
The hibiscus flower belonged to this hibiscus bush.
Beware of false teachers who come disguised as harmless
sheep, but are wolves and will tear you apart.
You can detect them by the way they act,
just as you can identify a tree by its fruit. You need never
confuse grapevines with thorn bushes of figs with thistles.
(Matthew 7:15-16, The Living Bible-TLB)
Muito interessante estas peças de museu.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen. Have a wonderful weekend!
DeleteThe croton and hibiscus are beautiful! I have not seen a hibiscus with this many petals. My, you have to think how much hard work women used to have in the kitchen...all that pounding and grinding. We have the Tetley, it is tea. And we have Colmans, it is mustard. And of course Cadbury chocolates, they are a big item here
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny. I think women those days are stronger because of all the hard work. Have a great weekend!
DeleteIt is a wonder that they manage to get so many old things to display in the museum. Lovely flowers.
ReplyDeleteI too wondered where they kept all these old things before they were on display, especially the old tins and containers.

DeleteNancy, some of those food products brings special memories. Like you, Jacob & Co cream cracker tin is very familiar and so with the Nestle Nestum....Are they still around these days? OXO, Colman Mustard, Tetley tea, Cadbury chocolates are still around in UK.
ReplyDeleteBack then, we also keep left over food in a screen door food cupboard!!It would be nice to have one of those again...but, we never get any left over food these days...it's either I'm a very good chef??! or we are just one constantly hungry growing family LOL! Thanks for sharing those old treasure:)
The Jacob & Co and the Nestle Nestum are still around and they come in different packaging tins, so is the Cadbury chocolates. I think you must be a very good chef! As for us over here, we have to keep our left over food in the fridge.
