A week after the Chinese New Year celebration, we (together with friends) visited a church member who was admitted to the hospital. She fell and suffered a dislocated elbow with one arm bone fractured. After the visitation, our friend's grandson wanted to eat fried chicken for dinner. It turned out that he wanted to eat the newly opened Texas fried chicken at SOHO Ipoh. Good! I am always game to try new food.
First, the seniors found a place to sit. In spite of the crowd, we managed to get a table for 6 people. We left the ordering and serving to the younger generation. Each one had a muffin and 2 big pieces of fried chicken. A very filling dinner!
Customers have to queue to order, pay and then wait for your number to be called to collect your food. Everything, including getting your own drinks is self-service.
Wall decor. Texas Chicken has been around since 1952 but only reached Ipoh 2018!
People are very keen to try new food.
We couldn't leave because of the heavy rain, so we stayed a bit longer to enjoy another round of the free flowing drinks.
Run from anything that gives you the evil thoughts
that young men often have,
but stay close to anything that makes you want to do right.
Have faith and love, and enjoy the companionship
of those who love the Lord and have pure hearts.
(2 Timothy 2:22, The Living Bible-TLB)
Heard of this Texas fried chicken. Good? I know it is very flavourful and spicy.
ReplyDeleteIt is good!
DeleteNot my choice of food but glad that you enjoyed it. Enjoy your week Diane
ReplyDeleteI don't mind having this once in a while but not our regular food.
DeleteTried once in Penang, yes, I like them too!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind eating the chicken once in a while!
DeleteThere's another one, Popeye, Ipoh have?
ReplyDeleteI have heard of Popeye but I think its not here in Ipoh yet.
DeleteMuito ao estilo americano.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.

Thank you, Francisco!
Deletewhat flavour did you eat? original or spicy? do you prefer this or kfc or mcd fried chicken?
ReplyDeleteIf I am not mistaken, we ate the original flavour. I think KFC, Mcd, etc...all have their own distinctive flavour. Once in a while I don't mind eating any of these.
DeleteThere is one near my office but I only ate their chicken once.
ReplyDeleteI have only tasted the chicken, I did not check so don't know what else they have.
Delete...looks like home.
ReplyDeleteEveryone wants to try this because it is new!
DeleteHello, the chicken looks delicious. I hope your friend heals quickly. Enjoy your day and new week!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen! I hope so too, but I think she will have to be patience for the bones to heal completely.
DeleteKFC sounds great to me with some fries and macaroni salad. Yum, yum.
ReplyDeleteCruisin Paul
Thank you, Paul!
DeleteVery similar in appearance to Kentucky Fried Chicken and that is very tasty!
ReplyDeleteI admit it taste good!
DeleteNever heard of Texas Fried Chicken. Southern, but not Texas. Looks mighty good.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day, Nancy. ♥
The fried chicken is tasty! I won't mind going for another visit!
DeleteHaven't try before but will do soon
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it!
DeleteI imagine the style is similar to KFC, but I haven't had any of that in years.
ReplyDeleteMore or less similar to KFC.
DeleteI love fried chicken too but cannot eat too often
ReplyDeleteSame for me too!
DeleteI think I would stick with your delicious Asian food. And I couldn’t help noticing that everything is served on throw away containers, with disposable drink cups, plastic cutlery etc. - an environmental nightmare.
ReplyDeleteAll these disposable utensils are not good for the environment.
DeleteThese chickens look nice:)
ReplyDeletekisses
They taste good too!
DeleteI have not heard of Texas chicken. Here, we have KFC. This looks really delightful! Very large and clean, too. Self sere drinks is the best! You can go back for refills as many times as you want!
ReplyDeleteThey taste more or less like KFC!
DeleteHola Nancy, muy interesante tu post, feliz año. Besos.
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear!
DeleteQue tengas una linda semana. Besitos.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa!
DeleteI've seen this around but I'm not a fan of fried food so have never gone in.
ReplyDeleteMy first time trying this.
DeleteIt's not healthy. but i am sure it is good, at least for once in a while!
ReplyDeleteI guess it is okay to eat once in a while! Lol!
DeleteSo far I'm not a fan... have had it a few times by now but always a eat-and-go kind of situation. Only the 'biscuit' is memorable to me.
ReplyDeleteI don't know when will my next visit be.
DeleteI kind of hate to see our fast-food chain restaurants exported to other countries, as they are definitely not our favorite kind of places to eat.
ReplyDeleteBut the important thing here was for you to make sure your friend's son ate something and was happy so good for you!
The young man was excited about this new fried chicken and wanted us to taste it.
DeleteLooks really interesting) thanks a lot for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear!
DeleteI have yet to try this, Nancy. Looks very yummy ohhh.
ReplyDeleteTaste yummy too!
DeleteFinally food I know something about. I love fried chicken. It used to be my specialty. I coated the chicken in buttermilk and coated it with a mixture of flour and parmesan cheese and then fried it. It was good but so bad for you.
ReplyDeleteThere is a restaurant here in Tulsa called Evelyn's Soul Food cafe in a commercial district near the airport. They cook every single thing from scratch and so you call your order before you leave to go there. (It is pretty much a lunch place only). One time we showed up at lunch without ordering before and got bawled out. The waitress said that we must be a bunch of overpaid big shots if we could show up unannounced and wait for them to cook everything for us. She said I should just throw you out because you are going to have to wait 45 minute for your food and you are going to get mad and blame me.
So we assured her that we had lots to talk about. It is really good. So if you ever go to Tulsa, Oklahoma USA, let me know beforehand and I will treat you and your family to Evelyns.
I am glad you get to convince the waitress to let you stay and wait for the food. Thank you for your invitation!
DeleteOh, sounds yum! I'll try it on my next US trip!
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it!
Deletei am sorry for your friend 's arm fracture dear Nancy!
ReplyDeletehope she gets better soon!
i am always amazed with the variety of food you share my friend:)
