Last Saturday, we had breakfast with friends and later we met up again for lunch. Our friends wanted to try the snacks at the "Tai Shu Keok" meaning "Under the Big Tree" place which is famous for all the stuffed ingredients (yong liew) and noodles, roast pork, and lots of other snacks.
Lots of choices.
We also pre-ordered these "Neen Koh" or the deep fried glutinous rice cake with yam and sweet potato.

That evening, we had an unexpected visitor. Hubby was sitting in the first hall facing the side window. All of a sudden, he saw a big monkey coming down from the awning roof onto the garden wall.
Hubby called out to me and I rushed out but before I could get my hand phone camera ready, the monkey started to cross the road to the opposite side. It then climbed up the electric pole and walked along the electric power cable.
Hubby followed on foot to check where the monkey was going. This monkey is bigger than the monkeys we usually see in the park.
It went right up to the end of the road and went out of sight.
It could have gone into the little garden where the owners planted some bananas and other fruit trees.
A short while later hubby saw the monkey walking on the side wall of our garden. It took a bite off my long okra and threw it back into my garden (probably not to its taste) and then pluck off a small white bitter melon from its vine and disappeared behind our house. So far this monkey was seen on 2 separate occasion by hubby. I do hope it doesn't come back again to pluck my fruits and vegetables.
After having taken the late lunch of snacks, we didn't want any dinner. But our friends invited us out for a light supper which we obliged. On the way, we went to the "Concubine Lane" to take a look as we have not been there in the evening.
Most of the shops were closed and a few were in the midst of closing up for the day.
The night scene is totally different from the day scene especially compared to the croweded weekends.
After a short walk and some photos, we went back to the car. We drove to Woolley Food City for some light supper.
We ordered 2 bowls of mixed fruits ice shaving for 2 couples to share.
And 2 plates of fried noodles Penang style for 2 couples to share. The fried noodles was good and we ended up ordering an addition plate to share. That were the 3 meals we shared together for that day.
Linking to Saturday's Critters.

Cool day❣

Delete...monkeys on a wire, something that I wouldn't see.
ReplyDeleteSomething which we don't usually get to see.
DeleteOh my goodness you do not need a monkey in your garden. They can do so much damage!! Take care Diane
ReplyDeleteI am praying it will not come back again.
DeleteHello, it is cool seeing the monkeys walking on the wires. I hope it does not come back and eat your plants. The food looks delicious. Thanks for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thank also for leaving me a comment.

Thank you, Sandee. The monkey has been the main topic of our conversation for the past few days.
DeleteMixed fruit ices are OK for me also. :)
ReplyDeleteEspecially on hot days!
DeleteThe fruit and ice looks beautiful and delicious. Seeing a monkey by your house is amazing. The only way that would happen here is if one escaped from the zoo.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny. This monkey looks well fed, big and healthy. Don't know where it came from.
DeleteThe monkey is quite a surprise.
ReplyDeleteA very big surprise.

Deletethis has been a very enjoyable blogpost...loved seeing things at a different time of day.
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't end up having trouble with the monkey, but if it is like animals around here, it will be back.
Thank you, Rose. I do hope the monkey will find some better place to go and not come through our place again.
DeleteA monkey! That's not something i would ever expect to see around here.
ReplyDeleteWonderful food and fun with friends, i hope you are having a great weekend!
Thank you, Mimi! Have a great new week!
DeleteThat monkey is something you sure wouldn't see in an Oklahoma neighborhood. Rabbits, squirrels, cats, dogs, birds, and the occasional coyote maybe but not a monkey. Wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteGreat scripture again,
Take care, have a great Sunday.

DeleteThe monkey is a rare sight. The night lights at concubine lane makes it looks so nostalgic.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Libby.
DeleteAll the food look so tasty! Are the monkeys from a forest that is being cleared nearby?
ReplyDeleteNow that you have mentioned, it could be possible that the clearing had disturbed them.
DeleteSounds like a good time was had the monkey photos are bloody great
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jo-Anne.
DeleteWhat an eventful day! Have an awesome week, dear! xoxo

DeleteThank you, Francisco.
ReplyDeleteMonkeys can be aggressive and scary.
ReplyDeleteVery different scenery at night for Concubine lane!
Once a pet monkey of a friend snatched my spectacle but was later returned to me in good shape. That was a scaring experience.
DeleteYaay, those monkeys ♥ ◡‿◡✿
