Gopeng "Lai Fun" Noodles, Fruits & Fried Rice On A Rainy Day

Yesterday morning (46th day MCO), I woke up to the sound of "pitter-patter" of the drizzling rain. It has been raining from the previous night and the drizzling hasn't stopped. A short while later, the drizzle stopped and I was able to go out to look at the sky.

I was surprised to see this sunrise with some colours at 6:50 am.

The colours disappeared 15 minutes later - 7:05 am.

Hubby went out to buy curry noodles for breakfast but found the shop closed. He went to the nearby shop and bought Gopeng "lai fun" noodles. 

He was early and no need to queue.

There was no other customer and hubby took a video while waiting.

Stuffed chili, fish cakes and fish balls in clear soup.

Stuffed tofu, yam bean cake, and stuffed bean curd sheet.

2 bowls of Gopeng "lai fun" noodle with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions in clear soup.

Breakfast for 2 people.

2 days ago, hubby bought half a kg "bak kwa" aka Chinese sweet meat jerky.

We finished the "bak kwa" within 2 days. I decided to make some "bak kwa" because it is cheaper. We drove out to the shops to buy minced pork and fruits.

I bought pineapples and Jack fruits (nangka). Nangka sold at RM 3.00 per packet. There are six in each pack, comes to 50 cents per piece. The lady boss told me that the freshly packed nangka is sweet and crunchy.

I bought 1 pineapple which is still green and unripe at RM 3.40. I also bought 2 pieces of ready cut pineapple which I intended to use for cooking assam laksa.

We had papaya for lunch.

It was pouring cats and dogs at about 5:15 pm.

Windy and heavy rain without lightning or thunder.

My garden was flooded.

Yesterday's dinner was special because I didn't do the cooking.

I quietly video taped this from behind.

 Probably because it was raining and hubby was hungry, he decided to fry rice with the cooked rice kept in the fridge. His mood only comes once in many, many moons. I was happy to let him take over the kitchen.

Hubby's signature simple fried rice with dried prawns, eggs, shallots and garlic.

Plain steamed cauliflower and carrot without any seasoning.

Bird's eye chilies in soy sauce.

Early dinner for 2 people at 5:30 pm.

Followed by dessert - Jack fruit (nangka) at 6:00 pm.

True to the lady boss' words, the nangka was sweet and crunchy. There is another packet for today's dessert.
