Two days after our dining room roof was blown off, I was admitted to the hospital for my chemo treatment. This was supposed to be the 3rd chemo cycle but this round the doctors decided to change to new chemo drugs. For this new chemo treatment, I will have to go through 9 cycles, once in every 2 weeks. I will be on chemo drip continuously for about 48 hours, so I will have to be warded in the hospital for 3 days and 2 nights.
Early morning sky at 6:45am.
For the past 2 weeks and more, the first half of the days were hot and sunny. By 3 to 4 pm, the sky will go dark. Then there will be strong wind and heavy downpour, scary thunderstorm. When I was admitted into the hospital for my 1st of 9 cycles chemo treatment, our roof was not fixed yet. It was a stressful whole week for us until the roof was fixed and our dining room was fully covered.
A plant that looks like a strawberry plant.
My stay in the hospital for my chemo treatment was pleasant and comfortable. I had to be admitted by 7am on the 1st day and by the time the chemo drip was over, I was discharged from hospital about 11pm plus, reached home and by the time I took my bath and went to bed was about 2am plus. I slept most of the next morning because I was feeling tired. By afternoon, I was feeling good and active. That was 5 days after the roof was blown off and our roof was not covered yet. Every time it rains, we couldn't sleep until the rain stops because hubby has to keep watch.
After 8 stressful days and nights, we breathed a sigh of relief when the roof was finally fixed. We can start to shift back our dining furniture back to the dining room. There was much cleaning to do for hubby and I helped in small ways that I can managed.

With loving care, my friend nursed this little bird back to health and about a month later, it took its first bath.

It sounds like you're in good care.
ReplyDeleteThank you, William. Yes, I am.

DeletePlus, I also noticed that some of the comments will be missing a few days later.

DeleteDoes that meant that the old chemo drugs didn't work?
ReplyDeleteNo, Angie. They are using a new chemo drug to target at the cells in my liver.
DeleteI stopped and prayed for full healing for you. Chemo and your roof blown off all in the same week, now that is stress.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terra for your prayer.
DeleteI'm glad it sounds like a lot of big stress is behind you save for the chemo treatments. I wish you continued ease with those. Your sky shot is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joyful. If everything goes well, I will have 7 cycles of chemo to go.
DeleteI understand we need to be thankful there is treatment. But this sounds terrible. I hope it works!
ReplyDeleteCute rescued, happy bird. Have a good day and weekend x
Thank you, Iris. Yes, no matter how terrible, I am thankful that the doctors are doing their best for me.
DeleteThe sweet bird, well it's good that's it's ok now - enjoyed the video :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your new chemo treatment Nancy.
You certainly had a lot on your mind during the first treatment with having that and no roof. Your husband sounds as if he is doing a good job...Bless him :)
Thank you, Margaret. I am glad I can rely on my husband at this time.
DeleteDear Nancy :=)
ReplyDeleteI hope and pray that the new chemo treatment works. You certainly have had a lot to contend with, and your hubby also, and I'm glad your roof is now fixed. We are having crazy hot weather here, unlike anything I have experienced before. I really enjoyed the video. The little bird seems quite at home enjoying his bath. I hope your friend will send you some follow up videos.:=)
All the best.
Thank you, Breathtaking. Yes, the main causes of stress is now behind us. Our weather is also very hot. In fact, it is heat wave here. The bird is now very comfortable with the humans and refuses to fly away.
DeleteSorry to have been absent for a while, so I am just learning about the damage to your roof. That was the last thing you needed, I am sure. Your new regimen of chemo sounds daunting, but if it is effective then it will be worth it. Cancer is a very cruel enemy. All the best - David
ReplyDeleteThank you, David.
DeleteWhat a stressful period on top of your chemo treatment! I admire your perseverance and inner strength. Take care and God bless.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gigi. Glad the stressful period is over.
DeleteOh my goodness Nancy. I guess you don't need any more storms. I feel so bad for you. I hope you get better my friend.
ReplyDeleteCruisin Paul
Thank you, Paul. No more storms for the time being. Now we are going through heat wave.
DeleteNancy, thank you for taking the trouble to write this post. Praying 🙏 that the new chemo works well. Please take good care!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mun.
DeleteOh wow I have missed so much over the time we were away and then trying to get straight on our return. I did not realise that you had already had chemo and that you are now heading for a second lot. I wish you all the very best and I hope and pray that it is effective. As for your roof being blown off that is something you could do well without, so glad it is now fixed.
ReplyDeleteTake care thoughts are with you. A big hug. Diane
Thank you, Diane. Sending you hugs too.

DeleteI read this post and it brought so much tears to me. I am reading this in a restaurant. It brought back the painful memories of my first chemo which was the strongest injections, plus 8 chemo tablets daily and radiotherapy for 5 weeks (daily). That was early 2022 and I still have ongoing treatment towards recovery.
ReplyDeleteThank you for identifying my pain and struggle with what you have experienced. I pray and hope that we will both have a complete recovery.
