Today, I have another Thai Aglaonema plant to share here. I first saw this plant in my sister's garden and was blessed with a small pot of this Thai Aglaonema beauty.
This is one from the many varieties of Aglaonema plants available.
I do not know its actual name.
From one small pot, I now have 2 big pots of this Thai Aglaonema in my garden and they have grown into 2 bushy plants.
This pot is exposed to a few hours of morning sun.
The leaves are in lighter green and the midrib is lighter pink or red.
This pot has lesser sun that the above pot. It was under shade and not in direct sunlight. The leaves are in darker green and the midrib more pink or purplish.
Thai Aglaonema is suitable for both outdoor and indoor but need to have sufficient light. Too much water causes the leaves to brown starting from the tip of the leaves.
Aglaonema's flower or bract.
The flower is beige in colour, not prominent and hardly noticeable.
Aglaonema is prone to pest especially the white, powdery mealy bugs. If left unchecked, it will spread quickly. The pest is usually found at the underside of leaves. I usually cut off the leaves or parts affected or I will spray with pesticides. Sometimes if the plants are badly affected, I will bald the plants and allow it to grow new shoots from the stumps. It may take some time to grow new shoots.
Even though the flower or bract may not be prominent or striking,
it has its own natural beauty.
