Just before the Chinese New Year celebration this year, I received a beautiful gift from a lovely lady. She bought this plant from a nursery and delivered it to my house. Thank you, my dear friend!
From the Google search: The common names for this plant is Sea Hibiscus, Beach Hibiscus, Cotton Tree, Baru Baru, Bebaru, etc. Its scientific name is Talipariti tiliaceum (L.) Fryxell. It is a flowering shrub, needs low maintenance. Propagation through seed, stem cutting, air-layering or sucker.
This was the plant delivered to my house. It has since been transferred it to a pot. I have seen this plant before but it is not a common plant in the plant nurseries.
So delighted to see flower buds on the plant.
Then the flower bloomed and this is how it looks like in the morning.
More buds means more flowers!
Some thing had been snacking on the leaves but it was no where to be seen.
In the morning, it opens as a yellow flower.
Then it matures to dull orange, turning pink in the afternoon and shed in the evening.
The flower last only 1 day but it is a free flowering plant.
I am keeping a look out for the seeds, so far I have yet to see one.
