We have noticed this eatery many times when travelling to and from Gopeng. And many times especially during dinner time, we noticed the place is usually packed with customers. We have been talking and wanting to try the food here with our foodie friends but nothing happened.
It finally happened and 5 of us were able to meet up at this Restoran Rawang Famous Steam Fish one fine evening.
It finally happened and 5 of us were able to meet up at this Restoran Rawang Famous Steam Fish one fine evening.
The restaurant is on the same row as the Symphony Suites.
It is a corner shop next to the RM2 shop.
There is plenty of parking space.
It was a weekday and not very crowded.
The place is spacious and comfortable.
The drinks corner at the back and the menu on the wall.
The payment counter on the left and the kitchen behind the screen.
A giganti rhizomes of Bentong ginger on display.
I am not sure whether it is for sale or not because picture captured by hubby.
While waiting for our dinner, we enjoyed a friend's special tea.
The first dish to arrive at our table - Deep fried fragrant salted chicken.
Signature dish of the restaurant - Steamed Tilapia with Bentong ginger.
We ordered 2 fishes for 5 people @ RM22 for a bigger fish.
The smaller fishes sold out.
Stir fried mix veggie of lotus root, celery, baby corn, mushroom, green peas, gingko seeds and white fungus.
And our favourite - Sambal Petai which truly deserves our praise.
A big thank you to our friend who treated us this yummy & hearty dinner.
Planning to return soon with another group of foodie friends.
He isn't really being slow about His promised return,
even though it sometimes seems that way.
But He is waiting,
for the good reason that He is not willing that any should perish,
and He is giving more time for sinners to repent.
(2 Peter 3:9, TLB)
Pratos com muito bom aspecto.

DeleteThe food looks amazing and I like the painted screen that leads to the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteAmalia
xo
Thank you, Amalia. I too like the painted screen.
DeleteI didn't know that Rawang is famous for steam fish. RM22 is a very good price for the fish. I love steamed tilapia with ginger but I don't like that the fish looks like being soaked in the light dark sauce. The shop looks clean and new. What a nice place to eat with good food too.
ReplyDeleteMun, its the ginger and the sauce that makes the steamed fish tasty.
DeleteTo me, a fish is always tasty if it is fresh. I don't like soy sauce soaking it but ginger on the side is ok.
DeleteThat's quite a lot of food!
ReplyDeleteHi William, actually the dishes are all small portion.
DeleteThe chicken looks delicious and the stir friend mix veg a feast for the eyes.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mamas. Both are very tasty too!
DeleteGreat photos indeed.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Have a great week!
DeleteVery spacious with nice ambience & the screen caught my attention. Food looks good & spotted 2 of my favourite dishes, steamed tilapia & mixed veg.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Irene. I too like the nice ambience and the screen.
DeleteThe 2nd picture, the place behind the parking lots, is it a park?
ReplyDeleteThe 2nd picture, the place behind the parking lots, is it a park?
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, the place behind the parking lot is the limestone hills. It is not a park but there is a Chinese temple next to it.
DeleteI loves all the foods except petai, as i don't eat petai...
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, petai is one of our favourite, lol!
DeleteYou'd make a wonderful food guide, Nancy. You're really good at finding the best places to eat! ^.^
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. Our hobby is looking out for new places for food tasting....lol!
DeleteWell, I know who to look for, for recommendations! ;)
DeleteLove the look of the fish and vegetables!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, both the fish and vegetable are very tasty!
DeleteA very nice looking restaurant. Great food too. Love all except sambal petai. Not a common dish in restaurants' menu over here.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rose. Sambal petai is very common over here.
DeleteI love the steamed fish too... must go again this week? or next?
ReplyDeleteHi Claire, anytime also can! After that we go try another new place.
DeletePetai!!! me more into petai...hahahaha
ReplyDeletewah the bentong ginger really impressive. I wonder how long it takes for it to grow this big.
The petai dish is really good! I love it very much. It must have taken a long time for the ginger to grow that size!
DeleteNancy, everything looks good to me! I have not tried Bentong ginger though I have seen it sold at Tesco.
ReplyDeletePhong Hong, Bentong ginger is the best quality ginger and most expensive ginger.
DeleteThe sambal petai really has lots of sambal!
ReplyDeleteThought this was at Rawang at first. Then... oh ya Rawang in Ipoh. :)
Stacy, the sambal petai is very good, very fragrant.
