For the last few days the air pollutant index over Ipoh has been quite high. The reading had been between 70 to 90 and some areas over 90. The haze is really making us very uncomfortable and tired.
Most evenings we have been cooking simple meals, like soups and drinking lots of water. One evening I didn't have the time to cook, and hubby suggested we go for porridge dinner.

Hubby drove to Jalan Yang Kalsom.
The eatery is opposite the Chinese Methodist Church.
Restoran Wing Hoong Lapan.
There were not many customers.
Hubby's dinner - white rice + stir fried beef slices with young ginger & spring onions. He changed his mind about eating porridge.
My dinner - porridge + beef slices, crullers, ginger strips.
2 glasses of cooling drink to cool down the body heat.
(watercress boiled with dried honey dates)
Total cost of dinner + drinks = RM13.00

And a man of understanding and wisdom has a cool spirit

the stir fry over rice looks good. sorry about the pollution!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Theresa. Have a wonderful week!
DeleteShame about the pollution. I have never come across the drink before, rather unusual.
ReplyDeleteThis morning decided to cancel our morning walk as the haze is still bad.
DeleteNancy, your hubby's meal looks delicious! I am so sorry to hear about the pollution, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. No walking exercise this morning because haze is still bad.
DeleteThey both look very good. You two know how to eat. Excellent.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day Nancy. ☺
Thank you, Sandee. The beef here is cooked very nicely, still very tender and juicy.

DeleteI love the look of your porridge. I'm sorry about your air quality. It is good to stay indoors as much as possible in this kind of weather. Especially if you have any breathing problems. Take care and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joyful for your concern and advice. This morning we cancelled our walking exercise and returned home because the haze condition is still bad. Have a beautiful week!
DeleteOver here also very high. I hv had beef rice but never try with porridge before. Mbe coz i like it with gravy. Yummm...if stir fry with the sweet "choong" ...super ho chiak
ReplyDeleteBoth the beef rice and porridge I also like, but I prefer the porridge because not so filling.
DeleteHardly could find beef porridge over here. Maybe because of mostly Buddhists and they dont eat beef. But we have chicken, fish and pork porridge here. Beef noodle soup is quite easy to find too.
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, maybe the beef noodle is not a hot selling item...
DeleteI loves this kind of porridge...
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, it is very yummy & ho chiak! Lol!
DeletePorridge for me anytime. Over in Kuching our air is considered in the unhealthy zone, over 100+++, and have not been able to do my morning exercise at the park.
ReplyDeleteHi Irene, looks like your place worse than over here. We also cancelled our morning walk till the condition improves.
DeleteThe haze is so bad in my corner that I can barely see the building across the main road, Nancy. Hope it clears off soon. The porridge looks amazing - yummy dinner indeed! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, even with the previous night's downpour, the haze is worse today than yesterday. Hope it will go away soon.
DeleteA comida tem um aspecto apetitoso.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.

Thank you, Francisco. Have a fabulous week!
DeleteNancy, I love beef! Even though I am usually not too keen on porridge, I think I will enjoy the beef porridge.
ReplyDeletePhong Hong, I am sure you will love this beef porridge.
DeleteWhen feeling tired, porridge is the best food! Easy to swallow.
ReplyDeleteMun, I fully agree with you, especially in hot and dusty days like these.
DeleteLooks good...a welcome relief from cooking I bet!
ReplyDeleteRose, once in a while, eating out is always a welcome relief.
DeleteThat's a lot of good food.
ReplyDeleteHi ladyfi, have a beautiful day!
DeleteBoth your meals look good! I like my cruellers to be crispy though, won't let them swim in the porridge hehe.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stacy. Ha ha..I also prefer my crullers crispy too. But since its only a few pieces, I will pick and eat the crullers first before they go soft.
