Once upon a time, we reared gold fishes in a big earthen pot with a nice water feature. We placed it just outside our room window and we could hear the sound of flowing water. I used to sit on a stool to watch the gold fishes swimming gracefully in the water.
I now have a Betta fish (Siamese fighting fish) which I have posted earlier and you can click here to see the fish. Recently, I acquired some Guppy fishes from a friend who has a tankful of guppy fishes. Initially, I thought of getting a big fish bowl so that I can placed it on a side table in the living room. Then I remembered I had a big cocktail glass bowl tucked away in the store room which I have not used at all. I took it out, washed it clean to keep the guppy fishes. This bowl will do for the time being because it might just be a passing hobby.

The little guppy fishes swimming in their new home.
I obtained some water plants from another friend.
There are 2 big female guppy fishes and the rest are smaller ones.
I took many snapshots but most are not clear because the fishes are fast swimmers.
These guppies are not very colourful because I have seen some very colourful ones in the pet shop.
These are my latest attraction and it is fun to watch them swimming in the bowl.

Below are some still life critters found in a hotel we stayed in during one of our holidays.
A large Hornbill at the hotel's lobby.
White feathered critters in the pond.
Linking to Saturday's Critters.
Then God said, "Let the waters teem with fish and other life,
and let the skies be filled with birds of every kind."

DeleteI love these animal sculptures, especially the Hornbill! I did not see your Fighting fish post!!! How could that be, I comment every day!!! It is a mystery. As a child, one of my best friend had guppies, they bred quickly and kept having many babies. Your Fighting fish is gorgeous! Did you get him a mate? Maybe they fight with their mates, too? I don't know why they are kept in such tiny vases and bowls.
ReplyDeleteThe fighting fish is a loner, so it has to live alone. So sad. I am still looking for a bigger bowl.
DeleteGreat post! Kisses:)
