One more dinner before we return to Ipoh and it was a steamboat dinner for 3 people. We were one of the early customers. My friend ordered a set and added a few extra items.
This is the set for 2.
Part of the set.
Fish balls
Crispy fried baby white pomfret.
So crispy that the bones can be eaten.
First, wait for the soup to boil.
Then we start the first batch to cook in the hot boiling soup.
Cover the pot and waited for the food to be cooked.
You can requested for extra soup to be added.
The more food added and the longer you cook, the soup gets tastier.
These are some of the condiments available.
You can choose to sit inside or out in the open air by the roadside.
After dinner, we went back to pack up our things.
A view of the swimming pool from one of the top floors.
A beautiful night view of Johor Bahru all lighted up.
Then he asked them, "When someone lights a lamp,
does he put a box over it to shut out the light?
Of course not! The light couldn't be seen or used.
A lamp is placed on a stand to shine and be useful.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon!
DeleteYour dinners look always so delicious and exotic to me! The yellow hibiscus is a beauty, so is the tiny tradescantia. Have a great day Nancy!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Riitta!
DeleteWhat a beautiful view of the city! And the flowers are all so pretty. There are a lot of Petunias around here, but I have never heard of the Dwarf Mexican. I love the Steamboat concept! The food has to be so fresh if they serve it uncooked, then you can cook it to your liking. Wish I could try it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny! Steamboat cooking is very simple. Just put in all the fresh raw stuff into the boiling water. Once cooked you can consume the food. You can use any dippings.
DeleteI want those baby pomfrets...so crisp and yummy!
ReplyDeleteYou can munch on them non-stop!
DeleteThe sauces play an important part in a steamboat meal, lovely flowers, it is such a joy to look at them
ReplyDeleteThank you, Libby! True, fresh food and tasty sauces!

DeleteI do enjoy steamboat but have not had it for a while now.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with steamboat is that I tend to overeat. Lol!
Delete...lovely 'city of lights.'
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tom!
DeleteEverything looks good at that meal, especially that whole bowl of fried onions!
ReplyDeleteYes, we actually took 2 bowls of fried onions!
DeleteInteresting food to eat. The flowers were very beautiful but what I enjoyed the most was the photo of the city at night. Thanks. See ya Nancy.

DeleteI would eat all the parts of the crispy baby pomfret including its bones.
ReplyDeleteThat was what we did, Mun!
DeleteThat’s an interesting way to have a meal, cook it yourself at the table with what you want in it. Maybe someday i will find a place that does that here.
ReplyDeleteHi Mimi! Actually we can easily do this at home!
DeleteI usually ate the whole deep fried baby pomfret except the bones. No head left. Hehehe.
ReplyDeleteSteamboat is a nice change from rice.
We finished the bones because they were fried till very crispy!
DeleteSome yummy looking food and some beautiful blooms!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debbie!
DeleteSteamboats are always enjoyable, especially when eaten with good friends. When u get bck to ipoh, do try that Bercham steamboat place i blogged about. Having coconut water in the soup is a refreshing change!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation. Will try when there is a chance.
DeleteBeautiful flowers! The hibiscus is a lovely colour and so is the purple hearts flower. I would love to grow a white petunia. It does look so delicate. Wishing you a blessed day Nancy!
