One Day Foodie Trip To Penang

Out of the blue, my friend asked me whether I would like to go for a one day trip to Penang. Just drive to Penang, enjoy some nice yummy food, and then drive back to Ipoh again. Since I have no appointment, I said, "Yes, let's go!"

It was a weekday and the journey was smooth all the way without any heavy traffic on the road. My friend and I took turn to drive the car. We reached Penang just before 10 am.
My friend took us to Lebuh Melayu, Georgetown where we had our 1st meal at Kedai Makanan dan Minuman Satu Satu Tiga (113). This place is known for its koay teow th'ng or flat rice noodle duck meat soup.
We each had a bowl of koay teow th'ng. The ingredients consist of duck meat, innards, meat balls and fish balls, fried garlic and sping onions.
We also ordered a bowl of fish balls to share.
These fish balls are softer and not as springy or bouncy as the ones in Ipoh.
A small plate of braised belly pork.
My phone camera is ready to taste the food first.
Business hours: 6.30 am to 3 pm.
Menu for breakfast and lunch is displayed on the wall.
If you are not sure what to order, you can refer to these pictures on the wall.
Beverages and prices displayed on the wall.
As we waited, more and more customers entered the shop.
It is a corner shop.
I only managed to capture this side view because the road was rather busy.
We passed by this way and saw this banner advertising Penang White Coffee. This time I didn't get to taste Penang White Coffee. Our next target was the char koay teow or fried flat rice noodle. We ordered 2 plates to share.
We ordered 1 plate normal char koay teow with prawns, egg, bean sprout, and chives.
We also ordered the special version. Same style of fried flat rice noodle but with additional prawns and mantis prawns added.
This is the Famous Ah Leng Char Koay Teow.
It is a corner shop along Jalan Dato Keramat, Penang.
The shop is next to this Star view or Federal Place.
After the fried noodle, we feast on some delicious durian.
Durian season has started.
Kampung durians, less flesh with big seeds but so good!
We didn't eat much, just took some to satisfy our craving.
Now we need to do some walking for better digestion.

For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure,
a craving for everything we see,
and pride in our achievements and possessions.
These are not from the Father, but are from this world.

    1. The white coffee are coffee beans that are roasted for shorter time than the normal ones, so the colour is lighter.
