Today is the last day of the Chinese New Year celebration. After this, everything or most will return to normal and we hope that the food prices will also return to normal.
Last Saturday morning we made our first visit to Dim Sum Yuen in Taman Canning. It was supposed to be a gathering of 6 people but only four could made it. For drinks, this place offers more than just Chinese tea. For us, we prefer Chinese tea with dim sum.

I like this pretty blue and white tea sets.
We ordered the following food for 4 people to share.
Steamed pork rib with taro or yam cubes.
Loh Mai Kai or steamed glutinous rice with Chinese sausage, chicken, and dried black mushroom.
Steamed flat rice rolls with bbq pork (char siew) as filling.
Served with yummy fried chili and dried shrimp paste.
Steamed bbq pork buns or char siew bao.
Taro or yam puffs made in the shape of white swans.
These white swans are too pretty to be eaten.
We must try the black swan on our next visit.
Muah chee or soft glutinous rice balls with black sesame paste as filling.
Served with lots of ground peanuts.
Fried rice cake with chopped salted radish, beansprouts, and egg.
Fish cake
Rice porridge or congee.
Century egg porride and chicken porridge.
Not all the food we ordered are in this picture.
And for dessert, we ordered water chestnut jelly.
The jelly was brought to our table as 3 little birds in a metal cage.
Our neighbour table volunteered their cage and a bird when they saw us taking pictures. Our friend who was still in Valentine mood, created this serenading scene of 2 birds.
Its a pity to eat this pretty bird jelly.
The black thing in the tea cup is tea leaf, not bird's dropping. Lol!

At the restaurant, we saw an ex-colleague with her family. What a pleasant surprise!
It was a wonderful opportunity to catch up with one another.
Part of the spacious dim sum restaurant.
Menu cover.
I needed to use the lady's washroom and saw these cute "Gent" and "Lady" sign on the doors.

The following photos were taken at our National Museum.
A replica of an ancient spice ship.
Most of these spices and jungle products were brought by traders from the Moluccas (the Spice Islands). The spices were used to add flavours in cooking and also for preserving raw food such as meat.
"What good is salt that has lost its saltiness?
Flavorless salt is fit for nothing - not even for fertilizer.
It is worthless and must be thrown out.
Listen well if you would understand my meaning."
(Luke 14:34-35, The Living Bible-TLB)
Muito bonito o serviço de chá, aproveito para desejar uma boa semana.

DeleteDim sum is my absolute favourite food of all. And when I go to a dim sum restaurant I have a couple of favourites and try something new too. It is great when you want to experience a new item because all the servings are small.
ReplyDeleteThank you, David! I love experimenting new dim sum items too.
