Macau, Sightseeing #3

Hong Kong, Day 3 - Macau, Sightseeing #3.

As we come to almost the end of the sweet treats testing lane, we could see the famous sight or landmark of Macau.
At the far distance, there stood the Ruins of St. Paul Cathedral.

A sculpture with a love story? Just wondering.

It was very hot and most of the visitors, including us were keeping to the shade to avoid the sun.

We took a few photos, rested and none of us wanted to climb up the stairs. I wouldn't mind going up the steps but the blazing hot sun kept me from doing so.

And someone remembered something and was so thoughtful about it. While we were resting in the shade, these Portuguese egg tarts suddenly appeared right in front of us. All the sweet treats testing could not be compared to this inviting sight.

We gladly took one each, they were warm and freshly baked, and I took a bite. Hmmm...the pastry was crispy, so flaky and light, and the filling was so smooth and yummy! You must taste it to know what I am trying to describe. Lol! Our visit to Macau would not be complete without these Portuguese tarts.

Some of our friends wanted to visit the A Ma Temple (Ma Kok Miu). Some went to pray in the temple, the others were resting on the benches under the shady trees, trying to get some cat naps. I took an umbrella and went around taking photos.

The top of Macau tower towering over the tree tops.

A short distance from the temple - the Maritime Museum.

Macau rich with buildings of western designs.

Rickshaws having a rest under the big shady tree.

Here ended our one day Macau trip.

We took a bus to the Ferry Terminal to return to Hong Kong. Looking forward to a scrumptious dinner treat.

And let us not neglect our meeting together,
as some people do, but encourage one another,
especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.

Macau, Sightseeing #2

Hong Kong, Day 3 - Macau, Sightseeing #2.

After the satisfying and delicious lunch, we started our walk about in Macau. The following are random photos of Macau.
Senado Square

Direction post.
We were heading towards Ruins of St. Paul Cathedral.

Koi Kei Bakery - free tasting of snacks, biscuits, etc.

Everyone was looking for some sweet treats e.g. almond cookies and pork jerky to take home as souvenirs.

Free tasting of biscuits or sweet treats before deciding what to buy.

For the whole length of this path from start to end, there were promoters standing in front of the biscuits shops offering samples for free tasting.

This promoter even put on a thorny head wear to attract customers.

Where once there were thorns, cypress trees will grow.
Where nettles grew, myrtles will sprout up.
These events will bring great honor to the LORD's name;
they will be an everlasting sign of His power and love.

Lunch In Macau

Hong Kong, Day 3 - Lunch in Macau.

Before we could do any more sightseeing, we had to fill our hungry tummies first. I had no idea where we were going but some in our group knew. We were going to have our lunch at Wong Chi Kei, the Congee Master and Noodle Expert.
Just look at the crowd waiting outside the shop.

The number of people waiting outside the door did not discouraged us. Take a look above the signboard and you can see the customers seated on the 1st floor.

Looking at the number, we had a long wait before our number was called. It was about 30-40 minutes when our number was flashed. We had to take 2 separate tables, one on the 1st floor and the other on the 2nd floor.

Hubby and I were with the 2nd group led by Pete and our table was on the 2nd floor. The place was really packed with customers. Pete helped us ordered the food.
Started with Chinese tea and a bowl of soup each. All the food shown below were shared by 5 people
A bowl of Shrimp Dumpling in Soup.

A bowl of Grilled Pork Chop with Noodle in Soup.
A bowl of Shrimp Dumpling with Noodle in Soup.
Braised Noodle with Shrimp's Eggs. I like this. It tasted very special.

Used a kitchen scissor to cut noodle for easier sharing.

A plate of Rice with Shrimps and Egg. Lots of prawns and the prawns were very fresh.
A plate of Crispy Deep Fried Wantons.

2 Macau Pork Chop Bread.

Very good! We all enjoyed the Pork Chop bun.

A plate of Deep Fried Fish Balls. These tasted really great!

Very flavourful and bouncy.
The other group S.O.S. us that they couldn't get the fish balls, so we shared the fish balls with them. Pete took some of the fish balls down to them and in exchange brought back some of the boiled intestine from them.

These were not soft enough, too tough to chew.

Putting confidence in an unreliable person in times of trouble
is like chewing with a broken tooth or walking on a lame foot.
