When some of my close friends came to know that hubby and I were going on a Hong Kong trip, they were very surprised but at the same time happy for me. They knew that I have never been keen to travel overseas and one of my friends asked me what made me agree on this Hong Kong trip. Actually, there was no time for me to think or decide, the decision was made by my hubby.
First, we have to get our passports renewed. Arrangement has to be made to get a kind friend to water my plants. The packing has to be done and getting the biscuits gifts, etc. ready.
On the 23rd night, my hubby and I together with 2 other friends were driven by one of our friend's son to the AmanJaya Bus Terminal in Meru Raya.
This was my first time here since its opening.
We had plenty of time and we took our time to have an early morning breakfast before we checked in. I drank a cup of coffee to keep myself awake.
Managed to get an aerial view from above before the plane landed.
A few days earlier we received news that there was heavy rain and thunderstorm in Hong Kong. Praise the Lord, God granted us fine weather throughout our stay in Hong Kong for us to enjoy our holiday there.
We arrived at Hong Kong airport just before 12 mid-day on 24 June. After collecting our luggage, our hosts and transports were waiting for us.
This was one of the 2 transport that took us to our lunch and then to the apartments where we will stay for our holiday in Hong Kong.
Our hosts were taking us to Sham Tseng for our lunch and we were travelling on this beautiful bridge. If I am not mistaken, this is the Tsing Ma Bridge. (Please correct me if I am wrong).
The names of places are all new to me, so please excuse me for not able to get all the names properly especially when they were mentioned in Cantonese.
This is another amazing structure that we passed through before reaching Sham Tseng. Sham Tseng means Deep Well in Cantonese. Thanking God for His faithfulness for journey mercy and protection. Do please stay tuned for my lunch post tomorrow.
Linking to Skywatch Friday.
Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.
(Psalm 36:5, New Living Translation-NLT)
Really PTL that the weather was good in HK throughout your stay there. Must be quite tiring to travel all the way from Ipoh to KLIA2 by bus and then have to get on the flight to HK. Just curious - why aren't you keen to travel overseas?
ReplyDeleteFirst reason is my garden, 2nd my problem sleeping in new beds and pillows, 3rd my toilet timing and adjustments, etc, etc....but I am glad I managed some breakthroughs during this trip to Hong Kong.
DeleteThanks, I can understand why you are not keen now.
DeleteWonderful views of Hong Kong, what a great trip! Thanks for sharing your visit. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Eileen. It has been a great experience in Hong Kong! Have an exciting weekend!
DeleteI am not so keen in travelling too especially to far places. One of the reasons is toilet timing, hahaha.
ReplyDeleteLol! Irene, we have the same toilet problem! It is really stressful searching for toilets especially when we are on touring in a foreign land at odd times.
DeleteSounds like a wonderful holiday, despite your misgivings.
ReplyDeleteYes, I did enjoy my holiday in Hong Kong. Have a wonderful weekend!
DeleteI'm so happy you're taking us along with you on your holiday. I was hoping you would and I'll be back tomorrow to see all the great food your ate too.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. ☺
I am happy to take you along on my tour of Hong Kong, so follow me!
Deletegreat post with all the details! made me remember that i once was in HongKong, but just in the transit-zone of the airport to change flights. looking forward to your next post!
ReplyDeleteHang on there, next post coming soon!
DeleteMy older daughter travels oversea a lot and the stories she tells makes me a bit timid about traveling in large cities with different cultures. I would probably get lost quickly as I have no sense of direction or time. I'm not a fan of flying either even though I occasionally fly.
ReplyDeleteHugs.
JB
For me flying is a very stressful thing, getting to the right place at the right time and always making sure my passport are with me, takes away the joy of touring! And being stuck in the airplane is also another stressful thing too!
DeleteFor me, travelling is a chance to learn and experience culture, diversity and places. Most of all, through travelling, we realize how God is vast, powerful and creative. :) I love how the bridge looks! :) soo stunning! have fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI do agree travelling is learning and experiencing the wonders of God's creation...but its me that is the problem...getting stressed up over minor things..lol!
DeleteNancy it seems it was a great trip and I am waifing for more phogos
ReplyDeleteSure, Gosia, stay tuned...more photos and posts coming up!
DeleteHi Nancy, this coming to you from Canada, my 1st drop by by chance. Nice blog and love your eloquent thoughts, as well of your interesting HK trip.
ReplyDeleteCan see you're a good photographer and yes, great detail shots, good to have these memories for that day when we grow too old to dream.
I too am retired, originally from KL....been away almost 30 years and its pics like yours that brings back, refreshes my memories of Malaysia. Though must admit looks different to the KL I once knew long ago.
And you have a very nice style of elaborating your thoughts, enjoyed reading it.
You have a nice day, and keep a song in your heart.
Best regards from Canada.
Lee.
Gorgeous views, Nancy! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. Have a beautiful and joyful weekend!
DeleteLook forward to more of your HK post...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. I will be sharing more with you.
DeleteThe pictures look woonderful.. have a great trip :)
ReplyDeletelooking forward to your next post :)
Thank you, Shahneela. You are welcomed to read about my trip in my blog.
DeleteOoooh, lol. You and some of your commenters remind me that when I travel I am always on the lookout to make sure I know where ALL the toilets are, lol. I usually spend some time relaxing in hotels that are not mine, so I can use the better facilities too when I am not near my apartment or hotel.
ReplyDeleteAside from the toilet issue, it looks like you travelled in style and comfort and the weather was cooperative. Praise God for his travel mercies toward you and your group. x
Hi Joyful, that's what we have been doing. We are also on the lookout for convenient toilets especially when there are 9 of us in our group! We also did the same about visiting hotels and shopping malls for the same reason too..lol! We were really thankful for God's providence of good weather, travel mercies, protection of safety and health. Most of all for our hosts in Hong Kong who were very hospitable and generous in providing lodging and transport.
DeleteHi Nancy! Wow, that must be exciting, going to HK! I read your reply to Mun and I smiled because those are my top 3 reasons too hah..hah...
ReplyDeleteHi Phong Hong, I thank God I did managed some sleep even in a new place. Toilet issue also not too bad because I got up extra early to try to do my job. I only had an emergency calling and thank God, my host took me and friend to a nearby shopping mall. Through all our visits to Hong Kong toilets, I am all praise for their cleanliness and hygiene! Even at the wet markets, the toilets are clean! And they also queue up even for the toilets!
DeleteI have been to HK for 10 hours only. ...at the airport for a layover from the Philippines to Los Angeles. :D
ReplyDeleteLili, I am glad I went on this trip to Hong Kong. It was a very experiential trip.
DeleteNancy, glad you enjoyed your trip :) this is a good start for you. Looking forward to your post on HK :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elin. I thank God for this golden opportunity that made our trip possible especially with local hosts to provide lodging and to take us around. Feeling so blessed and grateful!
DeleteYea...PTL :) you deserve it :)
DeletePraise and thanks to our Lord, He provided a way for us to make this trip and also many thanks to our group leader and our Hong Kong hosts. Without them, this trip will not be possible.
DeleteGlad to see you had beautiful weather during your vacation. i love the enthusiasm to travel and see the world. i enjoy being a tourist and see as much of each country i go to.
ReplyDeleteI have never been keen to travel. But once embarked on a trip, I would try to make the best of the opportunity to see as much as I can. I am all for sightseeing but not keen on shopping. Shopping will be the last in my to do list.
DeleteLooking forward to reading more, Nancy. I'm not a fan of traveling far either, especially in a group. I like really relaxing holidays..lol. Rushing about isn't my idea of fun. ^.^
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, like you, I am all for relaxing holidays in small groups. But since we were only there for 5 days and 3 nights holiday, our host try to make our trip worthwhile and I can say he did a very good job. Probably, if God is willing, it will be more relaxing on our next future trip lol!
DeleteEnjoy your trip Nancy! When we traveled to HK a few years ago we were welcomed by heavy rains. Good thing the weather is good. Take care.
ReplyDeleteWe were fore-warned that the weather was bad a few days before our trip but we were really fortunate that the weather took a turn and gave us clear blue sky when we arrived.
DeleteHi Nancy, thanks for sharing your HK trip, nice pictures. Great place for shopping and makin-ing. hahaha....
ReplyDeleteBest regards
Amelia
Thank you, Amelia. I really enjoyed the sightseeing and experiencing life in Hong Kong, no so much on shopping. Never was good in shopping...hahaaaa....
DeleteHaha your hubby had to kidnap you to HK!
ReplyDeleteHahaa...something like that. If the decision was left to me, I most probably will not be keen. But I am glad hubby made the decision for me, no regrets lol!
